It doesn't make sense NOW. But I don't see Dawson spending the rest of his boxing career at LHW, that's why I said around 2010.
Dawson hasnt long made the jump from 168, he isnt a big light heavy by any means and the jump from light heavy to cruiser is much bigger than the jump from super middle to light heavy. Dawson will finish his career at 175lbs for sure. Dawson is too small, wouldnt pack the punch to keep the bigger men off of him. Also Haye will be a fully fledged heavyweight by then.
Dawson is actaully a small Lt heavy, and he said that he could even still make 160, but he feels more comfortable at 175. Haye is a much thicker guy, but are about the same height. I would actually like to see haye stay out of the heavies. He has the skills and talent to become a superstar at the lighter weight, as a heavy he will be a nobody, and would lose to guy in the lower part of the top 20.
Haye is an extremely talented fighter as is Dawson. However with the weight difference i would have to go with Haye, as Dawsons chin would not withstand the tremendous power of Haye. I think Dawson is technically the better fighter, however both guys are extremely fast, with great skills. Would be a very exciting and close fight if the weight disparity was not present.
Yeah, I think he'll be at LHW for many years. Dawson has absolutely no problems making weight despite being a muscular 6'3" and he even said that he could still make 168 without trouble. Haye vs Dawson is a ridiculous matchup. P4P wise, it would be interesting though. Dawson's skills and stamina against Haye's power and talent. Both would be able to knock eachother out, but Haye's power is a lot more dangerous. A LHW version of Haye vs Dawson would probably be a pickem fight.
Dawson is a fast middleweight, Haye is a fast heavyweight. There is a huge difference, and Dawson would have a huge speed advantage. Your right about the size, Dawson is too small to fight Haye. Not really to small to fight mid to small cruisers though.
I dont see it as interesting. I see it as Dawson winning every second of the fight right until the point he gets knocked out. And I also dont think that Dawson could hurt Haye.
Strange analysis.... Dawson is a fast light heavy, Haye a fast cruiser, their speed is extremely comparable. Dawson the slightly better technical fighter IMO, but Haye is very good himself and has a fantastic amatuer pedigree. This fight p4p is basically pick em in my book. Dawson has under rated power, and both have average chins. Realistically this fight could go either way.
