Haye is planning to retire with his looks intact to pursue a career in modelling/acting in three years' time...Dawson will still be at LHW when David retires as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
Haye is too big for Dawson. If Dawson moved up further in weight, he would see a decrease in speed. It would only be a matter of time before the Hayemaker lands and takes Dawson out. P4P, this is a close matchup. Dawson is the more skilled/versatile fighter who has tremendous speed, but Haye has speed himself and concussive power.
Dawson has said that he will one day win the HW title. This fight is not out of the question in the next 2 to 3 years. If Dawson were able to bulk up effectively to around 210, I would pick him over Haye. He's faster and more skilled than Haye. Haye's only chance would be a KO.
Haye is a heavyweight, and could be 225 without a problem. Dawson is a middleweight that could make 160 easy. Dawson is fast compared to middleweights, Haye is fast compared to big cruisers and heavies. Up another 15 pounds Dawson would have little to not power being that he isnt a huge banger at 175. Haye has an average chin for a cruiser but Dawson is a small lt heavy. Dawson has a good chin as a middleweight an average chin as a Lt heavy and my guess is a weak chin vs heavyweight power. That is how I came up with my breakdown of the fight. I stand strong beside what I said. Dawson who would have a bigtime speed advantage would be winning all the way until haye landed some heavyweight power on Dawsons middleweight chin.:good
It's not a small chance. However, when your only hope is a KO, you're definately underdog. Dawson could win this fight by stoppage or decision. The only problem I see with Dawson is that he sometimes gets lazy on the defense. If he can correct this, Haye's power won't matter all that much.
Haye is not exactly a bad boxer. Dawson is not hard to hit and Haye hits like a train. Haye would KO Dawson at 210 or what ever weight. Also I doubt Dawson coul bulk up that much, he has said he could drop to 168 before. Cruiser would be a major push I think.
Haye is way bigger than Chad but Dawson can still box and move and win it. I've never seen Dawson hurt so who knows if Haye can even hurt him. Dawson is elusive and composed at all times so who knows if Hayes power will even be relevant.
Once again, Dawson has stated that he will one day win the HW title. The man is 6 '3, it's not unreasonable to think that he could bulk up to 210 lbs. I thought you were some sort of science major? Clearly, you should understand that 210 lbs. is not that big for a 6 '3 man. You also have to remember that he's only 25. His body will fill out more in 2 or 3 years. Dawson is certainly not easy to hit, as long as he stays focused. Skills win fights, speed kills. Dawson is faster and more skilled. Therefore, my pick is Dawson.
I am a Science major as you put it. However each type of person has his own build. It is not impossable that he could. It is highly unlikly that he would be effective at that weight against a guy who would be naturally much bigger and stronger than him. He would also not be very much faster than Haye at the higher weight. Haye would catch him and knock him out.
Not all 6'3 people are built the same though, Chad is slim and has tiny bones. Some 6'3 people can be built like Tyson and weigh 260, height has little relevance to weight. I agree with your pick though.
Chad has stated his intentions of one day being HW champ. This leads me to believe that he can effectively put on the weight. We've all seen guys that were once twigs that diesed up pretty quickly.
Please, Dont try and make out that Chad Dawson had the abulity of Roy Jones. He just doesnt, and the reason that Roy would be effective at higher weights is that he simply would not take shots. Dawson does so therefore he gets spark knocked out :good.
