Not sure. I think it's a real live fight - far more so then Pavlik ever was, and I stated that before the Hopkins fight. I don't think Joe has the power to trouble Dawson's perhaps suspect chin, and Dawson's hands are a match in speed for Joe. I'd perhaps slightly favour Joe through experience - but I'd certainly not discount Dawson.
I think if calzaghe is going to fight more and not 40 year olds then fighting a much younger more taller fighter will have strong effect on a ageing calzaghe who will look a bit ancient in the ring and calzaghe will become less mobile and will be hit with more shots and i think dawson may out work calzaghe and Tko him in 9th round
:nut Let me guess, those of you thinking Calzaghe via "wide" UD have never even seen Dawson fight right? You're from Wales or something? I can see the argument for Calzaghe via a competitive decision but "wide"?
im from england and a huge fan of joe but boxing sense comes first and no way will calzaghe wide UD chad dawson
I've said this from day 1 that Dawson would beat Calzaghe. With that said Calzaghe would be Dawsons toughest fight from 175 and down. I think Dawson's size, power, speed and combo punching would give him the advantage over Calzaghe if the two ever met. BTW Calzaghe-Dawson is the best fight that could be made in boxing right now.
Get the f*ck out of here. He does pack a good punch. His style isn't to tire out his opponent. And his attack is effective. What are you smoking?
I have not seen Dawson fight and he does have a very good record - I would like to see him fight Kessler, which would be a very telling fight.
Just talking about this fight makes me want to watch this matchup. Two very talented fighters going at it.
