Tarver is past his best & wasnt even that great to start with IMO.

Calzaghe would outbox Dawson, the fight wouldnt interest me that much to be honest, let Dawson do more rather than build him up after a couple of good wins like you did the mighty Pavlik.

Exactly and I feel Dawson wont get hit flush with Calzaghe's punches either even though I doubt he would hurt Dawson despite his suspect chin. He should a lot of improvement in his last fight against Tarver. He did a great job covering up and countering beautifully. :happy :bbb

What foolish people honestly think he would KO Calzaghe? Madness! he has 17 stoppages from 27 fights, and the majority have been TKOs. Of his top level opposition how many has he KO'd?? None (His top level opposition of course being Adamek, Johnson and Tarver).

As for his size, yes he's a fair bit taller, but his reach is only an extra 2inches.

From what i've seen of him he doesn't box at a high pace, and takes a few rounds off occasionally, Calzaghe would more than outwork him.

I think this aspect and Calzaghes experience would guide him to a comfortable UD.

Well, Tarver's never been KOed in his career if i'm not mistaken. Tarver can take a punch but his face was battered after the fight.

And i never meant to say Dawson is some heavy handed guy but the guy is not feather fisted by any means. When he starts letting his hands go, they pack explosive power. Not thudding power but the power that comes from speed. He's not Paulie M. or Spinks.

Agree to disagree. I think more highly of Dawson than you do.

No, he was the best prospect for a while until he won his WBC strap and had a couple of good defenses then dropped it to face Tarver. He showed a lot of improvement in that fight covering up and countering effectively. Dawsons style will give Joe a lot of problems. Joe wont be hitting Dawson flush since he does a great job covering and Joe really isnt a body puncher so I dont know why people keep saying he will outbox and outwork Dawson even though Dawson has a great work rate too and can match Joe's hand speed also.

i think dawson is a very good fighter.
i also think his style is the hardest out there for calzaghe.

for those picking dawson how much effect will fighting in the uk in front of 50,000 fans roaring the roof off will have on the judges and on dawson ?

was this factored in when thinking who would win /

IMO it would be very hard for dawson to win 7 clear rounds v calzaghe in wales

The WBC belt showed have been givn to Johnson. Glen Johnson was clearly robbed when the judges gave the fight to Dawson. Complete bull**** and corruption!

Let me clarify, i'm not saying Dawson dominates Calzaghe. Calzaghe's too good for that. I just think Dawson wins in a competitive yet clear decision. Who has Calzaghe faced that's even comparable to Dawson's natural talents? Too young, too fast, too talented for Calzaghe at 37 IMO.
