Chad Dawson vs. Joe Calzaghe?

What size Pimp?Calzaghe is a lot bigger than Dawson.Dawson entered training camp for Tarver at 174,Calzaghe enntered camp for Roy at 200.No size for Dawson there

 

In size I mean reach and height.

 

I'd give Joe a slight edge in the speed department.

Work rate is NOT the same at all. Dawson maybe doesn't 'take rounds off' but certainly can't keep up a constant pace over 12. Workrate certainly goes to Calzaghe.

Dawson did a great job covering up against Tarver but has looked nothing but average defensively against anyone half decent prior to that.

I think it would ultimately come down to experience and ability to adapt, which Dawson doesn't yet have. I would agree with ghostlybadge in that Joe takes it right now, but after maybe 2-3 more fights at the top level, Dawson has a much greater chance.

 

in fairness calzaghe is a different animal to tarver. not the greatest comparison.
and calzaghe's speed is so much faster than tarver's.
dont get me wrong this fight would be a good one but i just think dawsons only hope would be to get calzaghe out of there early but calzaghe has a great chinand the longer the fight go's on the more time calzaghe has to adapt. and he is ****ing good at adapting.

 

I have not seen Dawson fight - so I don't claim to know what will happen. But the only thing that really seems to play for Dawson is Calzaghe age. Dawson has 3 top level wins. Calzaghe has at least 5 top level and at least 3 elite level wins. Experience and is on Calzaghe's side.
Since Calzaghe will likely quit after the Jones fight I think a possible Kessler-matchup will answer questions.

ill give you size and youth. as for combos. have you not seen the matrix style slap attack calzaghe does. he can win a round with one outburst pretty much.
and calzaghes movent is pretty good to. check out lacy spending 12 rounds wondering where the **** calzaghe has gone.

 

Yes but those combos aren't landing with power Dawson's are.
BTW you can't compare Dawson with Lacy. Dawson is light years ahead of Lacy in terms of skill and accomplishments.

 

Didn't learn it enough.Still had moments in the Tarver fight when he did it but Tarver's power was comparable to Paulie's. And he just completely shuts down for whole rounds in a fight.He traded and got hit in the 3rd,didn't throw 1 frigging punch in the 6th.I don't see him beating Calzaghe tomorrow but maybe in 2 years or so yeah.

 

You realize that Dawson was just toying with Tarver right? I mean he allowed Tarver to get free shots, and Tarver still couldn't do ****, that tells Dawson has improved. I know you're a Dawson hater, but you have to admit you were impressed with that Dawson that night. As for th 6th round, Dawson purposley gave that round away and what he did the next round? Beat the crap out of him.
