Dawson went to the body more and that's how Dawson showed his power. Yeah, i know Tarver was passed it but Dawson still made him look like an amatuer.

Dawson gets a close win over Johnson and he is "overrated" and a tool of the devil around here. He then thrashes a past it Tarver (who plenty of morons were picking to win by KO, probably the same people that have jumped straight onto Chad's bandwagon) and suddenly he is going to STOP a solid chinned Calzaghe, despite not being a huge puncher and Calzaghe having excellent stamina. Truly baffling behaviour, talk about knee jerk bandwagon shenanigans. "Fans" go from completely leaving him off the map to him being the recognised best fighter from 160-175 because he whooped Tarver.

2007 - I'd take Calzaghe to edge out a decision.

    2008/2009 (pending on RJ fight):
Dawson's guard has improved and he would definitely pick up a lot of punches on his gloves, Calzaghe would definitely realise this is his toughest fight and he would have to straighten up his punches, none of that Manfredo fight garbage. Calzaghe can put on a lot of pressure (contrary to popular belief power isn't the only factor of pressure, no one likes getting hit in the face repeatedly whether they are ***** slaps or not).

With that said Dawson is a very precise puncher and put his combinations together very well against Tarver. He has all the physical tools to beat Calzaghe but Calzaghe has major advantages when it comes to ring IQ and the ability to adapt and/or follow gameplans. Dawson's lapses combined with Calzaghe's high work rate is going to make this a very close fight, he has all the physical tools but lacks the mental ones to gain a dominant victory over a fight of Calzaghe's calibre and style right now.

Pretty much a tossup for me, before the Tarver fight i would have edged towards Calzaghe's experience, after the Jones fight i suspect i might edge towards Dawson's youth.

Calzaghe has the intangibles and Dawson has more natural gifts. I'd favor Dawson in this fight based on physicality, youth, and poundage. I don't like Calzaghe at 175 as much as I like him at 168.
