Why in the hell would you want to see an old fighter on his way out beat a young exciting fighter like Dawson?:-( Dawson is better for the sport of boxing than Tarver is. If you're a fan of the sport then you should want Dawson to win so he can fight in the talent rich 168 pound division.

I think he could, he would just be weight-drained and dried out at the weight.

Might make him more vulnerable in rounds 10-12.

He will still mop the floor with everyone at 168 despite the drain, Dawson is on another level.

I remember a year ago we were talking of the possibility of Dawson making 168. If I'm correct, he walks at about the same weight as Bute and Kessler. I always thought he could do it. But If he's at 178 long before a fight, it's sure he can do it. I mean, bute is 178 5 days before his fights.

Right, except Dawson has incredibly low body fat, while a guy like Kessler has a whole lot more fat on him between fights.

Dawson, IF he can make 168, would be weight-drained for sure.

That said, he still beats everyone at and around 168 (should he make weight).

Dawson can make 168 easy. I remember in an interview saying he actually has to gain weight to make 175.

I don't think Dawson beats Kessler at 168, but it's a close affair. Once he cleans out Tarver again he should move down if he can; that would make the SMW division a real stormer.

I question whether he can effectively make 168lbs now.

Dawson is skinny like hell. I'm sure he could make it. I'd love to see it, it would bring more excitement to an already promising division. With the prospect of Abraham soon, all is looking good. Now if only we can get Kessler back on track...

Is this Dawson that will clean up at 168 the same Dawson that went life and death with Glen Johnson whose 168 career was hardly stellar?

He would be a great addition to the SMW division. If he can make the weight without draining himself he should definitely do it and he would be one of the top dogs there no doubt. The SMW division is pretty stacked at the moment.

168 has been a very entertaining and interesting division for ages. Its such a shame the US boxing public have been sleeping on it so long simply because they had no names in the mix.
