How many of you out there feel that Light Heavyweight Champion Chad Dawson who is among the top pound 4 pound fighters in the world has what it takes to maybe someday move up and become a Heavyweight Champion??.

Yep. His chin is too shaky and he lacks power to fight at HW. Of course if he would not get sloppy at times and lose focus like against Johnson the chin would not be as big a problem. Well on 2nd thought, as bad as the HW division is and might be for awhile it's possible. He's not p4p for fighting senior citizens though.

i like chad where he is for the same reasons (chin). but on top of that, he is young and there is a lot of talent at lhw as well as the divisions below who will one day be up at lhw. chad is gonna have a lot of real good fights in the upcoming years. the smw and lhw divisions are gonna have some major fights in the upcoming years and if chad plays his cards right he will be a major shotcaller in a lot of them.

Because he has been put down by low punching power opponents a lot.
Chad will never be a great fighter with that chin of his,
His just another overated american who if he comes to europe to fight the elite over here he will get knocked the f*ck out, same with arreola.
    It's as simple as that.

    No,

    1. His chin

    2. He never re-matched Glen Johnson (even if you don't think he lost he should have done it to stop any doubt)

Id say he's done enough, and looked good enough to be in the Top 20 for sure.

As for the Heavyweigh thing, im not sure. He's big, he will get bigger, Im not that worried about his chin, and it isnt rare that chin improves when you move up and bulk up. Would have to be way in the future though, and improve other departments before even giving thought to a HW tilt.

It wouldnt be out of the question he could win a cruiser title if he went there now, so it's hard to judge what he will be like in 8-10 years. If you were to pickout 1 fighter from in or around his weight that is most suited for mulitiple divisions i cant think of a better one.

Not anytime soon though, he has good options just below his weight for when he becomes a big attraction.

I remember when we used to look at the heavyweight division, for the next great heavyweight!
Its gotten so bad now that we look at every other weight division, hoping someone will step up and do something at heavyweight!

    Sad!

What do you mean Dawson has a bad chin? He's not like Amir Khan who gets knocked down easily. He got knocked down 3 in 28 fights, and they were all flash kd's. He got hit with a solid right hand from Adamek, a punch that knocks out most opponents (see Jonothan Banks). He took Glen Johnson's best shots and was never knocked down. Dawson chin is B+, very good and can take a punch.

And Dawson WILL NEVER be a heavyweight.

Dawson needs to quit running from Johnson. To fight Tarver again is sick.
