Now a lot of you think Glen Johnson won and I understand that, but Dawson can't have an immediate rematch with Glen Johnson. First off their is a WBC INTERIM TITLE MATCH on April 19 between Adrian Diaconu and Chris Henry. The winner of that match will HAVE to face the WBC champion Chad Dawson. If Dawson refuses to fight either Diaconu or Henry, his WBC belt will be stripped. Now you're probably thinking why doesn't Dawson just give up his title and fight Johnson anyway? Well Johnson is not going to face Dawson again unless the belt is on the line. If Diaconu or Henry has the WBC belt, Johnson will pursue those fighters, which means Dawson will be on the losing end of the stick. It's best for Dawson to take care of his mandatory mess, than give Johnson a rematch. If their was no interim title than Dawson is free to give Johnson a rematch, something many of you would like to see (as would I). Right now Dawson should just completely forget about his fight with Johnson and concentrate his efforts on his next upcoming bout. Dawson needs to fight smarter next time, I think the change in trainers affected him, because he looked like crap against Johnson compared to his last three fights. And because of that I believe Dawson will correct his mistakes and improve on his defense. One bad fight is not going to change my opinion about him, I still believe he's the future of this division, because lets be honest, no one gave a damn about the LHW division until Dawson started making noise. So unless the WBC demands an immidate rematch between the two, I just don't see one happening right away. The WBC is not going to call off the interim match, Diaconu and Henry are both hungry for a title shot. I've noticed some people have been e-mailing WBC President Jose Sulaiman for a rematch, it's not going to happen right away.
Dawson has a dangerous fight coming up against his interim champion (whichever guy that will be). After that he can collect some belts from Suckalips (easy victory), and then potentially look for a fight against Calzaghe, though it will probably never happen, and--if it is still lucrative--a Johnson rematch. His team have stated that eventually the guy is going to move up in weight. So he is going to take on Cunningham/Flores/Bell/Adamek or whoever ends up holding the titles once Haye moves up, maybe 1 or 2 years from now.
Dawson's future is this: Laying face down on the canvas knocked unconcious, bleeding profusely from multiple cuts infilicted by the powerful, fast, tactful, and furious fists of Adrian Diaconu:fire Then boxing will have another great, well deserved champion who's certainly more worthy of my money for a PPV fight than some china chinned, furcoat wearing ****** of a thief, named Chad Dawson:deal
I think he's very skilled technically but he is very upright and exploitable, nowhere near as great as people think he is....Diaconu has a style that will truly ruin Chad Dawson and leave him a bloody mess.....After Adi's destruction of Dawson boxing will have a new champion:yep
Well I guess picking Judah to win over Tszyu was'nt that crazy before that fight either so I understand how you might make such a pick:-( Cheers:good
I don't get the comparison. Judah folds under pressure, Dawson just proved he would fight back. And Kostya Tszyu fights nothing like Diaconu. He also wasn't 5-7 inches shorter than Judah and had proven his power at the top level.
I have much more respect for Dawson after the fight. I had Johnson ahead of 115-113 and he would've deserved the win. But Dawson put on a great fight as well, fought back bravely is tough situations, made the fight as exciting as it can be. As I've said before the fight, Dawson has some problems that could cause danger in the later rounds: chin and stamina. Well, Glen came strong and the scored on the chin... Dawson became weaker and was stunned a few times... but STILL FOUGHT BACK BRAVELY! That's the performance I was looking for, not this p4p ****. I don't care if he's p4p material or not. He wasn't a complete fighter until Saturday, but he's one after this fight. Give credit for both guys for putting on a great show. IMO Chad should've lost, but he became a lot better fighter that night and he's earned TONS of respect in my eyes... I'm quite stunned how everyone is calling him a bum after he put on the best LHW fight in years. I have an easy solution for you: don't call any fighter a future p4p superstar until he proves it and you don't have to call him a bum after YOUR mistake. And especially don't hate Dawson if you cry controversy (I don't), hate the judges! Respect Dawson!
dawson fights his ass off, he boxes and he will exchange with you.dont be mad at chad he did not score the fight.and chad should be fine as long as he dont have to fight glen anymore. he will beat tarver and then go on to lose to bhop.other then that chad cant beat everyone else.he just better learn how to guard that baby chin of his a little bit better.cause i think hes the best boxer next to bhop in that divison, he still can get lose to a bum with with a good punch. a shity chin has to be the worst to have in boxing, no matter how good you are or fast or strong, all it takes is for a weak ass chin to feel a little pressure and its bed time lol !
I think Dawson should give Glen a rematch but his team won't. So Dawson vs. Tarver is coming I suppose. Of course Tarver is bigger and stronger physically than Glen, but he also looked much older last Saturday with little power and low punch output... So Dawson should have easy time vs. Tarver.
Up in weight? He'd be better off moving down in weight right now where he'd get tougher fights and better experience than in the old man marquee division.
