Well, this makes a little bit more sense than the Cody McKenzie fight, but not by a whole lot. Manny is coming off of a hard fought decision win over Omigawa, but before that, he dropped three in a row. Manny should be in against a top twenty guy, whereas Mendes should be in there against a top fiver at least.

Aside from that, it can be interesting to watch a strong wrestler fight a strong judoka. Wouldn't be surprised if they were both content to contest in on the feet, though.

I dont know but it looks like they are trying to build Mendes up again with some nice wins to get some hype behind him again or maybe it is just proof that the FW division is just that shallow

Mendes is a good fighter. This should be an easy win for him. Once Aldo leaves the division, he should be the next champ.

I'm scared these fights will stunt his growth. Do you think perhaps he's suffering from Jon Fitch Syndrome and just no one wants to fight him? As they're not necessarily scared of him but his stifling takedowns?

I love this match, hopefully Manny G turns back the clock. But, I feel he will eats some bombs.... Money Mendes could very well punch him out in the opening round.

I don't consider FW shallow at all.

Mendes has the momentum that is without doubt, as we know in MMA that can turn with a single punch, these two will slug it IMHO until someone gets cleaned!

Manny throws from his boots so I wouldn't be at all suprised if Mendes just shoots and negates that threat, then controls and pounds him out.

I like both guys but Mendes is a top prospect, he's gonna win this fight inside the distance IMO

#'n A, Money Mendes is also on the WAR PATH!! He is rejuvenated, he is not the same.... Cody Mckenzie in seconds, Meza in minutes... You line them up and the Best in the World will knock them out! Stylistically, Manny presents some problems, but I believe the once #1 Contender is primed. Where you at Korean Zombie!?

War Manny! I love that goofy, thick as **** Armenian half-a-psycho!

But he is in trouble in this one, I think! :yep

As a side note - just looking at him now, when he was on TUF he defeated Matt Wiman and Joe Lauzon, then lost to Nate Diaz by way of in-fight injury. Not a bad run of competition at all for a reality show. :conf

    :hat

He also knocked out Jorge Santiago back in the day. Pretty impressive, considering he is a pretty small guy.

I guess this could be more attributed to the fact that Santiago has one of the worst chins in the sport.

I liken Chad Mendes to Dan Henderson in a couple of ways!

His boxing is not fluent or crisp, he doesnt throw fixed combinations, technically he could be better

But he knows how to find the target!

I know what you mean and i may have used the wrong words but to the general public he isnt all that and to make it worse he is a smaller guy in the FW which lets face it isnt a weightclass thats a huge draw for the people.
But if they put him on a steady road back to the title people will see this guy more and more and people start to talk about him and tune in to watch him
