Who knew the secret to being the heavyweight champion of the world was in a widely available $30 over the counter pill.

Gee golly willakers, too bad absolutely nobody else in the sport was taking this cheap over the counter drug back then, but no, a roided out 20 year old Tyson assaulted the innocent drug free boxing world.

If only Spinks would have bought these dang pills.

That’s fine as long as you admit Tyson was on roids and not being a fanboy who thinks Tyson was clean... I’m well aware that Spinks was juiced by Shillstone and others like Tony Tucker , Berbick etc. were D-Bol’d up too

...also, d-bol didn't really become a widespread and en vogue street drug in the US until the 90's (or late 80's at least, a few years after Tyson's debut), when it quickly spread to the MLB and ushered in the home run era by the decade's end.

It was more of a hush-hush Russian thing most laypeople wouldn't have known about until then. A few bodybuilders maybe...not most athletes, though.

    So.......

If Mike Tysons oppostion were all juiced up, what difference does it make.

If everyone is juiced, and a 5'10 Mike Tyson, who is also juiced, is still leveling everyone.... how is he not a freak?

Exactly who did Tyson beat that you think wasnt taking a 30 dollar miracle pill, and who would also have beaten him if he had?

Lastly, I dont think steroids work the way you think they work.

You can give someone all the peds you want, it doesnt make them superman, and it doesnt magically make a semi gifted person into a destroyer, especially when hes also competing against others who are... also juicing.

Implying Tyson wasnt a genetic freak because he took peds is just extremely laughable.

That wasn’t the point of my post. The point is that there are loads of fanboys that ride Mikes **** like there is gold in there, and say he was a totally natural fighter blindly looking the other way at Tyson’s shady techniques used to dodge drug tests and naively believe that the ear biter only ever did weed or coke.
Yes Tyson had some genetic gifts, namely decent speed and an ugly scary looking face and deranged personality which Frightened lot of guys. But any time a sizeable fighter with some courage stood up to Mike he became ordinary. Even against guys like Mitch Green or Quick Tillis.

He's a divisive fighter, perhaps among the most polarizing in the sport's history. That means obnoxious hagiographies, yes, but also equally ridiculous legions of irrational haters.

I think he started using after prison. He looked ridiculously shredded in his comeback against McNeely.

I doubt pre prison tyson was on gear, not to mention cus would never be okay with that early on in his career. When he got out of prison, he did look more cut up and lean. But the funny thing is he wasn't really any better as a fighter, he was worse if anything. Now in his 50's and doing this little show fight i am sure both him and roy are taking something, nothing wrong with that. You can't expect older men to be training that hard 5 - 6 days a week like they're 24

    Exactly. I don't even care.

I'll juice if I am that age and can afford it. Getting old sucks.

You think it was the same back then testing wise ? Plus the biggest cash cow in boxing would have the power to make stuff slide under the radar, especially with king involved. Tyson quite obviously took roids , most likely from a very young age under cus. He was cus’s pet project, An to be honest I’m not sure how much of a positive in Tyson’s life he was

Peds are banned for a reason mate, of course they give you an edge, in every athletic field it’s an advantage

“Steroids don’t work the way you think they do”
If you were to break it down, we’d still be left with a better performing athlete, regardless of how they work, an what areas it effects. Yes I believe they all cheated, but I don’t believe they would’ve had them fed to them from an earlier age like Tyson. That was an experiment cus had going on, very rarely do they get a fighter that young with complete control of their lives. I actually think he was bred like dog fighters breed Pits, all he ever knew was fighting an training, it’s no wonder he had no skills to deal with anything else in his life
