Sonnen is a cool dude. I had an old wrestling buddy of mine, by the name of Scott Shipman. This guy would be an absolute beast in MMA right now if he had chose to keep on with it. His only loss of his career came when he fought against Shonnen, and was actually beating Chael in the fight, until during the second round Scott was caught in a bad position and lost by a choke. Cael said that he was grabbing his trophy on the run and getting the hell out of there. I thought that showed a good bit of humility, and humor. As for Scott, he decided that he wanted to Coach Wrestling rather than fight, so that is why he did. I had always wished he kept on with MMA, because he was a beast.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3r79j_filho-sonnen-finish_extreme I may have, um, overreacted...slightly Although I still stand that if he did not say tap, the ref shouldn't have stopped it, but that seems irrelevant now. Chael vs Beebs, who is dumber?
I didn't hear him say "tap". What sort of sense does that make? He would have just tapped if he wanted to tap. I agree that was very fast. His arm was turned inward, not bending the wrong way, and he could have leaped up with his hips into side mount.
I agree, but it definetly seems that ref says "you said tap" I can't hear ****, but that that sure seems to be what he is saying.
Well I think this kind of reflects really poorly on Sonnen for still insisting that he said "no" before the ref stopped the fight.
