Silva made it look bad because he is such a good striker that he can make you miss like that. Don't exaggerate the spinning back fist. Sonnen tried to set him up and come in with a powerful strike but failed.
Unless Sonnen slows down his work and trys to be a little more technical and a little less tenacious then he'll always be suspect to a good sub. Luckily for him, he is a good enough wrestler and tenacious enough that you can't lock it up unless you are a good submission artist - Maia, Silva, Horn etc but there will be quite a few of them in elite MMA.
Chael is an idiot, he never learns. His only chance was on the ground though. Standing with Silva, he had no chance. Chael needed the fight on the gound , it almost worked in the first fight. And he easily controled the first round. You have no business using a technique in a fight that you cant use without falling on your ass.
This. People make it sound like he could've just continued to do what he did in the first, Silva didn't let him do that in the second and he broke down very quickly as a result. The only reason Sonnen even got such an easy TD in the first is because Silva came out sloppy swinging wildly.
