Chael Sonnen vs Brian Stann in October..

Very good fight !!!

The technical aspect of the stand up game would have to go to Stann , however Sonnen has that bull rush style stand up that Anderson Silva in bits and hurt him on multiple occasions , he's very effective in MMA with that particular style .

The concern for Stan here would have to be the difference in Grappling levels between himself and Sonnen :deal

 

Sonnen fever is slowly gripping the nation of ESB.

Stanns a nice guy and painted as the hero. Sonnen is gonna bury himself if he starts laying into a war vet like Stann.

 

That's quite a statement to make there.

 

chael is a better striker, stann has a lot more power but even if he pulls off a miracle and keeps it standing, he wont touch chaels chin, and even if he does, chaels chin is granite.

chaels wrestling is amazing and up there with GSP, stann is not even close and probably wont get a single power punch off.

chael sonnen wins. brian stanns leg has his baby 9 months later.

Sonnen probably did edge the stand-up vs Anderson, but that was in part due to Silva being wary of the takedown and in part due to his rib injury. Plus one fight (which was primarily fought on the ground) does not make Sonnen a great stand-up fighter.

To me, Stann looks like the clearly superior kickboxer. When was the last time Sonnen devastated someone with punches, kicks and knees the way Stann did to Leben and Santiago???

it is an MMA fight, it doesnt matter if he sucked balls standing up because he had to worry about sonnens shot, he still got his ass handed to him standing up. therfore, chael sonnen has better stand up than anderson silva.

stann will worry about chaels shot just as much and wont be able to stop it either.

i think silva threw a punch and then chael changed levels to shoot right as anderson threw it.

he wasnt standing and defending himself.

Sonnen didnt edge Anderson in the standup he was very close to being knocked the **** out in the 4th round but Anderson's defensive wrestling as always was just so bad he couldnt finish the job. Yet.
