While in this day and age nobody, absolutely nobody, is immune from suspension, he has always had the jaw and faced the toughest doping tests there are, WADA, as a world class wrestler.

I would put him low on the suspicion list.

 

You don't need evidence to accuse people of cheating. You just don't have to like them.

 

Silva had a bit of lady luck on his side Sat night.
Chael is one of the greatest wrestler to ever step afoot the octagon. Big props to Silva though, he beat the MAN.
Im still a bit stunned, I gave him very little chance.

 

You were spot on in the way you called it, except for the surprise ending of course.

I didn't want to believe that Sonnen could win, but the man dominated for 23 minutes :good

Well I figured I remember Silva against Lutter some 3 years ago. Lutter is a weakling and I was amazed at how he took Silva down with ease even taking a flying knee in the process.

Then I saw Hendo 1 year later and again easy takedown as a matter of fact, many people blamed Hendo for not sticking to his plan. TBfair though Silva rocked him and that changed the complexion. Hendos no youngling either.

On top of all of this, Silva is not the type that would hone his TD defense, as you saw with he wouldnt even fight let alone practice something specific. He got cocky.

Then came Chael, have you ever handicapped Horse racing? I play horses and theres some handicappers that will look at a horse and know that this horse is ripe for an upset win. That horse is "Peaking". Most betting in racing is based on the last few performances on how a horse looked and the horses pedigree.

And then you look at an athlete which are really thoughrobreds in human form. What Chael (who has elite pedigree) has done in the last 4 matches and his progression (that is key) it tells you that as an athlete he is nearing his Apex.

He is doing things now that makes you go "WTF??wow" picking up and slamming Okami was a sign. Who does that?? Then slapping Nate like a mutt, when Nate was suppose to give Anderson his stiffest challenge.

He now reminds you of Anderson 4 years back when he crush Leben and Franklin you go whoah!!

Then you add the style mismatch..and its really pretty easy.

In other words, Chael although he lost was a bettors dream.

 

he just further demonstrated the fact that wrestling is the most dominant aspect of MMA.

 

You're right about calling the fight.. Maybe I took the safe bet? I don't know.. Either way I was being a weenie and wanted to play it safe.

That makes perfect sense about horse races. I don't bet like that, but my uncle has been pretty good at betting on greyhounds.. He likes to bet on the dog that is a last to take a dump before a race lol.

I remember the Lutter fight, the guy even mounted Silva at one point. I think he came in overweight for that fight though. Saw the Hendo fight also, and I can see a pattern.

My mind was full of **** throughout the fight. I like Silva, but I think I like Greco Roman, freestyle, and grapplers more.. Or at least guys who have grappling as a major part of their game.. Not to mention I wanted Sonnen to bring the title home to the states. As the rounds went by and the takedowns started to add up, I could only think that this would be the end of an era.. Then BOOM.. He gets caught in a submission hold. It felt like I was watching a Rocky movie but in the end there was nothing to feel good about.

How do you see a rematch playing out?

 

And yet this simple concept people cant grasp. Wrestling makes themn irrational. Ill put it this way, if these wrestlers had gotten a headstart on kickboxing some 15 years ago. Then finally we would have no problems funding the olympic team because they would dominate and get rich of MMA.

Just take a look at Brock, the man is finished/shot as a wrestler at a high level but hes the UFC champ

Country boy Hughes is considered the greatest WW and really just pure Wrestling and sub defense.

God I wonder what Angle would have done at 205 in MMA. I saw this guy train, he was running with a log on his back up the hill for hrs.

I tell you people are not giving Chael a shot and I understand that, he blew his load and hes got some wear and tear now.

But again, a thinking man would say what about Silva and his psyche and body?? He might have lost something in the cage that night as well. He aint getting any younger and he still wont avoid the takedowns.

If I were Chael, I would approach it with less standing up and dont trade as much. He got lucky the first time he shouldnt push it. Stick to wrestling, improve the gnp and ffs get Daimien Maia in your camp for sub attempts on top and sub defense. I tell you Silva may be prone to subs, thats why many wants to see him against Palhares.

 

Chael is just that good. In the end he lost because Silva is that good too. That's MMA and part of the reason that you don't see too many guys with no losses. I knew Sonnon would be good on his feet striking but I knew it was possible he'd lose by submission too. It's really not that much of a surprise.

Oh, and Silva isn't the best fighter in MMA either, Fedor is despite his loss. I'd say Silva is tied for second best with GSP.

 

Unfortunate but true.

 

Sadly in this day and age, everybody is suspect.
