    From his interview:

"I have been living with Victoria for thirteen years, and there's no trace of Hepatitis in her blood and in the blood of our children. This antigen had been found in my blood overseas and it surprised me a lot as I had never contracted neither Hepatitis nor any other form of this disease. If I hadn't been a boxer I would have never known about this antigen as it cannot be revealed by standard medical procedures. All of this mess during the second Valuev fight spoils my living and doesn't help me in doing my work, in boxing which is my favorite sport. I'm fully healthy, I'm not dangerous for others and I'm ready to fight. What is the problem? Wladimir (Klitschko) wasn't afraid to sign the contract. We had reached the deal in shortest time possible"

Possible that he has false positive tests and is being setup? If the infection was obvious one would expect BBBofC decision by now.

Yes, it is from the scene. From my understanding certain HepB tests can produce false-positive result.

Right, Ruslan will be a handful for Haye. A handful that Haye will avoid.

For some reason the British Boxing Board of Control appears to be taking a longer time than one would expect in deciding whether Chagaev will be allowed to fight Haye. I imagine that they are concerned about who did the medical evaluations of Chagaev (and his wife) that were submitted to the BBBC, whether tested samples were actually from Chagaev and the integrity and quality of the lab that did the testing. Also, how the current lab results jibe with any of Chagaev' prior HBV blood tests that may be available to them.

The test results for hepatitis B blood tests are pretty straightforward: the presence of HBV surface antigen, antibody to HBV core antigen, the presence of HBV e-antigen---as well as HBV e-antibody titer, and a (certainly a PCR assay, but possibly a semi-quantitative--RTPCR assay) HBV DNA to determine current viral load. Then there are liver function assays (I guess beginning with SGPT and SGOT) to determine liver function since HBV will eventually infect the liver.

There is no reporting that Chagaev was ever treated for either acute or chronic HBV infection, but more importantly, we don't know what was in the medical report submitted by his physician to the BBBC. It is quite conceivable that tests that the BBBC believes that he should have had done might have not been done and perhaps that is causing the delay by the BBBC.

I guess that ideally the BBBC would want Chagaev' blood draw(s) to be done in the presence of a BBBC official and that a lab known to the BBBC do the testing.

Was a purse bid ever held? Why is it that the fight automatically HAS to be in the UK?

I wish I had the knowledge to make an informed guess on how full of **** he might be. I have enough common sense to know Tommy Morrison has always been full of **** but that's a very different case. :?

You could just, you know...let down your cynical guard and actually take the man at his word even in the absence of such knowledge.
