Chagaev still holds the crown for taking the most punishment and keep coming forward

Sosnowski did a commendable job/attempt to get inside and do something, but NOone kept pressing forward as Chagaev did, in spite of the the hailstorm of punishing shots being landed on him, repeatedly, and the guy continued trying like HELL to bob and weave his way inside.........

Chagaev is still top four in the world, if you ask me. And he may be top three, if he does well against Haye........and I suspect he just may do better than most expect against Haye.

Chagaev looked a bit lackluster the other night, but he's been out for a while. I suspect against Haye, we'll see a return to a better form, and Haye may have his hands full.

Chagaev IMO is the third best HW in the world. Haye is about tied with him.

Chagaev simply has the misfortune of being a short, stocky guy with short arms. Even though he lost to Wlad it was competitive at least. He just doesn't have the style to trouble Wlad or Vitali, too short. He could trouble ANYONE else, IMO.

He holds the crown for being on the wrong end of a one-sided beat down? Congratulations to Chagaev! How's it feel, buddy?

I too am mistified by this assessment. Haye will knock him out, albeit with a bit of a struggle. Haye is our only hope of an interesting fight against either Klitschko

I think everyone is well aware of that. If not, they can simply look at the photo.

    AHEM.....anyway............

But that said, Chagaev, given the chance, will easily be Haye's most competitive heavyweight fight yet, by far.

The point is, that if Chagaev's toughness, and constant come forward style against the MUCH bigger, longer reaching, hard hitting Wlad is any indication of how he'll constantly put the pressure on the smaller Haye, and keep working his way forward, throwing fast combinations at Haye.................. Haye will have one hell of a fight on his hands......................and I am not sure I don't give Chagaev a decent chance at beating Haye. He's

Ruslan Chagaev is skilled, fast handed, and tough as hell, and constantly puts pressure on his oppoents.................And Haye openly admits he has to protect his less than stellar chin that Chagaev will be gunning for.

Chagaev will have better luck against Haye than he did Klitschko, but I doubt he'll win. If the odds were strongly in Haye's favor, I'd put a small amount on Chagaev, just for the hell of it. Man, that would be great actually. In the end, I agree with you on one thing. Chagaev would be his biggest challenge, but that's hardly saying much. He will be Haye's youngest heavyweight opponent at 31. Chagaev has suffered a torn achilles and hepatitis, his prime is over.

Well if we're talking both brothers recent fights, TThompson took a lot of punishment and even managed to deliver a little of his own. I didn't see the chagaev/wlad fight but all acounts I read indicated that Chagaev didn't do much offensively.

And if Chagaev's the third best hw, it's another sign that the divsiion continues to be very bad

Just remembered something. Since everybody loves to make excuses and rationalize the **** out of everything, dig this. I believe Chagaev took the fight with Wladimir at short notice since David Haye backed out. He was facing a Wladimir that had been training to fight Haye. Even though Wladimir didn't have to do much, I thought he looked particularly good in this fight. I believe he showed up ready to do some serious damage. He was very supple, moving more fluid than usual. I don't think you could say he looked like a robot at all this time. It's since come out that Wladimir was nursing a shoulder injury as well, which he had surgery for thereafter, prompting a layoff until the Chambers fight. They said that this limited Wladimir's arsenal to jabs and straight hands. You don't see him use much else anyway. Not that it would've affected the outcome much, either way Chagaev was going to lose, but he may not have been well prepared for this fight.

:patsch Doh! Yes, you are correct. Honestly, my entire last post is borderline pointless. The only reason I posted it was because I wasted the time typing it. Kinda drunk. :dead Just wrote an obituary for Dennis Hopper...

Why do Klit fans treat Wlad and Vitali as if they are the same fighter???

Chag is a very dangerous fight for Haye. He might actually spoil the Haye vs Klitschko party afterall.
