Chagaev still holds the crown for taking the most punishment and keep coming forward

Chagaev is incredibly durable, if he isn't ruined. He will be the first true litmus test of Haye's heavyweight power.

This is not, it should be noted, an attempt to preemptively discredit Haye.

If Chagaev looks like ass straight away, and winds up getting blown out - then yes, it's fair to say he was greatly diminished by the beating from Wlad and the large gaps in activity.

If it's competitive, and Haye is able to score a knockout over an able and determined Ruslan - he will have made a new believer.

Man Chagaev sucks. He just stood there in front of wlad and took a beating. He just tried to survive. Your just trying to build him up and make him look good so you can claim wlad is some kind of all time great which he is not. He didn't he hit wlad on his weak ass chin.

No he's not. Haye will take Chagaev out in two rounds. Chagaev sucks and you know it. He lost every ****ing round to wlad. All he was doing is trying to survive. Klitscho needs to get in the ring with Haye and get his tomato can ass fighting self beat.

SO that was in the past. He sucks now. Haye is way more of a threat to wlad weak chin than Chagaev was. Wlad has to deal with speed and power unlike he has ever had to deal with before. Thats what haye brings to the table. Wlads chin is no better than is was years ago when sanders and brewster found it. True I don't think Haye can take a good punch either. But I feel he is a faster starter than wlad and he may find wlad chin early and get him out of there early. I would say Haye is going to ko wlad inside of 3 rounds. Wlad will not be able do deal with haye's speed and his chin can't handle haye's power. Wlad's jab will be to slow to work against haye.

Sorry, but I could not see anything "competitive" in that fight. Wlad had to work for his money (he was sweating after 10 rounds of showing his most dominant boxing performance), but it was hardly a competitive bout.

Chagaev boxes in small incriments, making small very precise moves. He also attacks in very sudden rushes, closing the distance very quickly and with precise and varied punches.

Stack that up against Haye's badish footwork and dislike of pressure/vulneability and you have a serious stylistic advantage for Chagaev.

The other side of that coin is Haye's masive advantages in speed and power. Simply put, he's a better puncher. So it's a fascinating one. You have an advatage in styles vesus an advantage in physical advantages. Think Barrera-Hamed or Maquez-Pacquiao II.

I have to say though, that I think that Chagaev now looks vulnerable to right hands, and he has perhaps lost a step. To win, he's going to have to come through horrible punishment, and I think he is not what he once was. I favour Haye.

There's a huge mis-interpreation surrounding Chagaev from a combination of people who have never watched him box aside from agains Wlad, and people who despise the Klitschko's. He's never, ever been the type of fighter that would have KO'd Meehan. He just doesn't take unneccessary chanes with his boxing. You saw him trying to be extremetly aggressive against Klit because he was losing so bad. Against Meehan, he just bank rounds. So people start shouting that he is washed up,done etc. It's bullsit.

But he has had two career threatening injuries. He looks worse against Skelton, even, than he did against Valuev and he's had a desperate injury since then.

    He could beat Haye though.

It's just a style, a controlling style. Chagaev is my favourite HW. I think he's a cracking boxer, if unspectacular.

Tony Thompson also took a lot of punishment against Wlad don't forget. Its a while since I saw that fight but he was in with Wlad for about 10 or 11 rounds and walking forward throughout

    Good summary of Chagaev :good

Because of the Ruiz fight, and the fact Chagaev is better offensively and defensively than Ruiz I see this fight being about a 50-50. I have no doubt at all Haye's chin will be tested if they fight. If Chagaev can't knock him out he can certainly rattle him and keep a steady pace for 12 rounds. In fact when I think about this I can see any outcome happening, either guy can realistically win by points or KO :think

hard to believe Chagaev has been a pro for 13 years....only has 28 fights....only had 2 knockouts in last 5 years....has a SD win over Ruiz and a majority win or Valeuv and got beat to a pulp by Wlad and looked pretty good beating up the white Carl Davis Drummond (meehan)
the guy has not done **** in the pros for such a highly respected amateur career. John Ruiz career is 10 times that of chagaev. Theres not a person on this board who ever sat around drinking with his buddies and said " man, did you see that chagaev fight last night, WOW!" the fact chagaev is praised on these boards tell you how sad the state of the game is.....
