German tabloid BILD is reporting Chagaev is fighting Jovo Pudar on the Klitschko - Povetkin undercard. If he wins (which he should), he will get unranked Luis Ortiz in the final WBA eliminator for the WBA regular belt.

Then I assume Chagaev can fight for the WBA regular belt against the next highest ranking contender.

I'm trying very hard to get excited about "the WBA Regular Belt."

.... Nope, just can't do it.

in terms of considering that sham of a belt a title........yes......but......if Chagaev can get thru Pudar and Ortiz(IF Ortiz makes a meaningful fight before Chagaev) then this would be a good eliminator to fight Wlad.

Not saying either Chagaev or Ortiz deserves a title shot right now, but if they both beat meaningful rated HWs and then one beat the other, I would have no problem considering them a good mandatory for Wladimir.

And hopefully, Chagaev can hide from Wlad long enough for Wlad not to have to mess with the WBA for a while too.:yep

Yes I think what they mean is that Chagaev can challenge for the WBA regular belt and then defend that piece of junk of a couple times against no-hopers before he has to face the winner of Wlad/Povetkin.

hahaha this really. I mean come on WBA it's not like we're all fools. We know that the only belt that counts is the one that is in the hands of Wladimir Klitschko.

All other belts are meaningless really.

The headline in that article is misleading.

According to various sources including the details of that bild article, Chagaev is just ONE fight away from fighting for the WBA "world" belt against Luiz Ortiz, and two fights away from becoming the mandatory for the Super WBA belt (winner of Klitschko-Povetkin).

he can give his kids that belt to play with if he wins it, other than that, it's worthless

Who cares? Chagaev and the WBA regular belt are both completely irrelevant at this point.

Typical ******ed responses from people who think it is easy to compete at a world level in the HW division. Chagaev is an excellent fighter who would give any HW trouble besides wlad. In his prime he would beat anyone in the division save Wlad and Vitali. he would beat the **** out of Haye and Adamek in his prime.
