i know chagaev wont fight him cause its too big of a risk! but i think the white wolf could win a decision against chagaev! and it would be a war!
I ddin't even know Liakhovich was still fighting. It's not a knock. I just haven't seen him fight in ages. I honestly thought he went the way of Ibragimov.
Was Liak on the Chag undercard? I hope you're right, diamondDave but decisioning Meehan maybe's not the best meter to tell what Ruslan has left.
Liakhovich sadly is not the fighter he once was. Chagaev showed sound fundamentals, which took him past Kali Meehan who really did try his best. But once the Klitchkos have disposed of an opponent, it's hard for him to get any lustre back.
Liakhovich's changed his name which is confusing. I wasn't particularly impressed with him against Quinn, I had the fight quite close. I was a good fight though, and Sergei (or Sergey, or Siarhei) was in good shape, which was good as he was very fat against Valuev.
Thanks for the link, Ain't. I notice Liakhovich's wife is sitting behind his corner praying and never looking at the ring.
Liakhovich? Haven't heard from him since the Shannon Briggs fight. How long ago was that? I thought he retired or something.
From what I´ve seen I´d say Liakhovich is not that good. I saw him fight Friday Ah... (however his name is spelled) and he seemed pretty sloppy in that fight. He was also KOed by Maurice Harris and defeated rather easily by Valuev as well as KOed by an old Briggs, who has very limited stamina. His win over Brewster may be somewhat impressive but honestly Brewster was alway very technically limited. He was able to blitz Golota, beat Wlad cause Wlad gassed out and was being outboxed pretty badly by Luan Karsniqi before scoring a KO. In short, Brewster was always just a pretty good puncher who was easily outboxed. Chagaev on the other hand was always pretty good. He has solid wins over Valuev, Ruiz and Virchis and Kali Meehan and a bunch of lesser boxers and he was able to stay in there with Wlad for a pretty long time. I´d pick Chagaev to win comfortably.
Liakhovich is not that good no more and I'm actually questioning wether he was ever that good or did he just fight the fight of his life vs Brewster.
It would be a good one. I'd have to go with Chagaev, but Liakhovich has some things going for him in this fight. Chagaev's punch output isn't great, Liakhovich would throw more. Also SL is bigger and probably hits a bit harder. Chances are Chagaev would out box him and win a decision, but if Sergei makes him fight he has a chance to edge it. The probem Liakhovich has is that he tends to do best against punchers, but always gets hit a lot. Its not exactly a formula for a long, successful career... Its just occurred to me, Liakhovich against either Adamek or Arreola could be great fights :think
