not sure why all the critisim of skelton.

he does what works for him and has an immense will to win, by whatever means

yes stylistically unless matched right he is not for the purist, but he is not a gimmee defense by any means and the fight will not be as one sided as many beleive.

    watch chagaev v ruiz.

chagaev clearly had the better boxing skills/faster hands and was the better boxer , but during the middle rounds he slowed down, conserved energy and allowed the sloppy ruiz back into the fight and had to pull it out again in the championship rounds to get the deserved win.

i think ruiz and skelton is a good comparison of how the fight will go and look like , so it will not be that easy for chagaev and while skelton would not be for the good of boxing as a champ, he will give everyone a hard fight as he never stops trying/mauling /punching/walking down/bullying and has a good chin and a good workrate and is very physically strong despite not looking in great shape.

    poor matchmaking on chagaev`s part
warren to give him reluctent credit for once did what he promised skelton and got him a title shot.

    Agreed.

In the ideal scenario, Chagaev fights the winner of Wlad vs Sultan somewhere mid 2008. That would be great. If Ruslan's disease was genuine, then it might actually happen.

Point taken. I haven´t really watched Skelton fight except for a few second clip. I´m not sure I want to either, seeing how he´s being compared to Ruiz all the time. I´m not sure TOS or Beck would beat Skelton though but if they did he´d sure be finished as a contender.

I don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but Chagaev's disease and reason for cancelling the unification fight this year apparently turned out to be jaundice. (as reported by German network ZDF)
