Chambers 209...WOW

Eddie has bloody fast hands, he just seems to have stamina issues or laziness issues, whichever you want to call it. If he rectifies his stamina issue, and he may have done with getting down to 209, I think he is a legitimate threat at Heavyweight. Supremely talented young man.

 

Regardless of the outcome I think the winner of this fight will be an important player in the heavyweight division.

It might just be more important than it looks.

 

I was very happy to see this too! Chambers is shaping up to be quite a respectable boxer. His competition level the last few years (Povetkin, Peter, now Dimitrenko) is as good as any heavyweight and his, finally, low weight testifies to his focus and determination. I'm looking forward to see this match... Chambers still has a long range difference to overcome, and fighting a German-household product in their backyard, the odds are stacked against him. Especially if you consider that he's not that big a hitter.

Going up against an opponent so much bigger in his hometown... the man has balls.

I've only seen one match from Dimitrenko and although he won with a single left hook to the liver, i'm not entirely sold on him. This fight will be a good gauge to see where both stand. Especially for Chambers it's important for him to learn to deal with a 6'7 opponent if he wants to challenge either Klitschko.

This is a good match. We have two young top ten heavyweights meeting each other. The winner will have earned a title shot.

I seen each guy a few times.

Chambers is a talented fighter with very good speed, good skills, and a solid chin. His main problem is he doesn't throw a lot of punches, spends too much time on the ropes, and is not a hard puncher.

Dimitrenko is quickly coming into his own. Dimitrenko is a super heavyweight. He's 250+ pounds in shape, is 6'7" tall and sports a 83" reach. Dimitrenko moves very well for a man his size. He can in-fight ( rare for a man his size ) or out fight, land hard punches with the cross or hook, and has a pretty good jab. While he lacks the power of the Klitschko's, he can hit hard enough to get your respect. On the downside Dimitrenko can go into his shell at times.

Who wins? I think Dimitrenko has improved as of late. I'll take Dimitrenko on points. Chambers has the style of an out fighter. However, he is facing a good boxer who happens to be much taller and owns a much longer gun. If its a jab and move type of fight, Chambers will have a hard time. One of Chambers biggest flaws is he doesn't throw enough punches. In this fight he going to have to change his style win.

If Dimitrenko wins by a larger margin than Povetkin did vs Chambers, you could make a case for him being a top 4 man. If Chambers wins, I think you could make a case from him being a top 4 man as well.

 

I think the winner is going to come knocking on the door of the Klitschko family home soon.

Why would they be likley to go the WBA route?

I would give them both a verry good chance of taking Valuev but I doubt that he will fight them unless they are a mandatory.

 

Just because a guy trained down to a low doesn't mean everything. Look at Byrd he got to 175 and they had all the pictures of him working out and looking good in the gym. I think Chambers would have benefited more from coming in around 215. That seven to ten extra pounds of muscle can make a big difference at the heavyweight division and would not hurt his speed.

 

I agree, it's good to see him take care of himself. He looks much better. He's good speed, hopefully his stamina is coming along. I also thought that he could fought at cruiser but it's more ambitious to fight at heavy. I like that, and if he can succeed he can further prove that weight/size isn't everything in being a heavyweight. And he's not even that big a hitter, that might add to it. I'll be hoping he wins this upcoming fight.

Now the Klitschko brothers still dominate the division at the top but there is sure as hell a changing of the guard taking place beneath them.
