That was the first heavyweight fight I ever fell asleep during, Brock/Timor was one of the worst heavyweight fights I ever seen. Brock will win against Chambers though, this will be a another snoozer probably as well.:tired
....Tommy Loughran, 1931. As I recall Jack Dempsey was the referee, and that was a conflict of interest. Dempsey had be involved with Baer at various stages of his career. The problem is Baer never took anything very seriously and Dempsey found that very exasperating.
I am hoping brock because it would be nice to see Povtkin against someone who can punch a little bit.
Chambers has too much handspeed for Brock...Dominick Guinn was a tougher style matchup for Chambers than Brock, and Chambers handled it...
I could see the fun in posting about this fight for boxing sake but it's so meaningless in the grand scheme of things. Neither of these guys would beat Povetkin and if that were to somehow occur we've already seen 50% of what would happen with Wlad. Brock's nowhere near his class and Chambers hasn't got a chance either. Too late now but they should just let Povetkin go straight to Wlad. That would be cool. Top dog (not quite old lion) vs. solid young fighter. As for my pick, Brock by UD.
Chambers has better technical skills and is a far faster fighter.. as far as chins go there is a - next to Cal's and a ? next to Eddies.. I give credit to them for taking a good solid fight, Brock is going to be in for a very tough time with Chambers positive attitude... I pick EC.. but Brock isn't a bum, he has skills and fair power too.
I think Brock will win this fight. Chambers can't punch, which is what makes Brock shy in the ring. Chambers also can't hold his ground vs a puncher, and Brock is a good puncher. Best guess is Brock hurts Chambers, and the memory of the punch makes Chambers too defensive minded to win a decsion.
Chambers can't punch ??? he has fantastic speed and with it comes power, did anyone see Rossys face after their fight... It was like a butcher had tenderized it.........
this is such a question mark of a fight. How has Brock rebounded from the Wlad fight? (the two wins he has put up since then have told us nothing, except that Brock can be knocked down even by a soft punching fat journeymen) Brock can show up lethargic, will he do so this time? What kind of chin does Chambers have? Chambers is mainly a counter puncher, he did well against Guinn because Guinn actually threw off some punches in their fight. When Guinn did nothing, Chambers didn't do much either. Chambers has a decent hook (Derrick Rossy) and fast hands. Brock also has a good hook and is very sound all the way around. With one exception. Brock seems to be too easily knocked down, but, even with that murderous right that caught him flush in the title fight, he still got up (though out). Against McCline he was knocked down, but he pulled himself off the canvas. Not a great chin, one that can cause him to give up a round 10-8, but not as easy to knock out as you might think. Not that he did all that great, but he did do better than any of the other Klitschko title defenses. I can't see Chambers taking Brock out. His best chance of winning is to pile up points and create damage over the course of the fight (hook damage causing right eye cuts/swolleness) and to maybe score a knockdown and get a 10-8 round to his advantage. Brock's best chance of winning is simply making the less experienced Chambers fight more of his fight, and letting his hands go to not be outpointed. Plus, he's got to test the chin. This could be a very dull fight. Chambers could be waiting for Brock to lead and Brock might not throw all that much, knowing he might get countered and wanting Chambers to lead, taking away the defense. However, it could be a good fight, depending on how badly they both want it. I think Chambers wants it, Brock I am not so sure about. If Brock comes to win, and he is not a mentally beat fighter, it could be a very good match up and I think he takes it. If he comes in slow, unwilling to press the action, Chambers gets the UD in kind of a snooze fest.
