According to the German tv commentator Chambers collect a paycheck of around 100.000$ whereas Dimitrenko got 350.000= around 440.000$. I was quite surprised to learn that Chambers didnt earn more bucks travelling over to Germany and taking on Dimitrenko in his "backyard". Did I get the numbers wrong????:admin
Yesterday morning: Dimitrenko = Interconti Champ + higher ranks = more money Today morning: Dimitrenko = nothing An insight brought to you by Serenata
Consider it a future investment in himself by Chambers. The fight last night earned him a bout with Klitschko, which will easily make up for any budget shortfalls this time around.
Goes to show how Chambers has some huge balls going into a fight against a fighter in his adopted country coming off the biggest win of his career for the short end of the stick. Props to him and his team for taking the fight and making the most out of the situation, Chambers should get a fight against Arreola on HBO hopefully.
Smart money fight from Chambers. He lost his ZERO already, so his marketability in the states dropped, along with fighting a less-than-appealing style means he wasn't going to make big money in the states. He made more fighting Sacha then he would have fighting Arreola stateside.. I'm sure of that. He now has a two "names" on his resume with a W that they can sell in a Klitschko fight to draw interest. His only other options than Dimitrenko was fighting bums in the US on Friday Night Fights for chump change. Smart move on his part, even if he was too lose. The only way this fight would have hurt him was if he was KO'd, because a decision loss in Germany would almost always be viewed stateside as a robbery, and he could sell it that way.. even if he was out-classed.
Exactly. Top fighters will take short money if they are confident that they can beat the other guy and increase their earnings later on. Clearly, Chambers and his team were pretty confident of victory, and trained hard to get it. Good for them.
