    +425 favorite for Povetkin?

Thats some pretty damn good odds for Povet, I figured he be atleast an 8 to 1 favorite. Chambers is just a fresher version of Chris Byrd.

People who take Chambers still don't say HOW exactly he is going to win. All you typically hear is that he is fast with better lateral movement (if even that much). Well for starters Povetkins speed is VERY unerrated. Chambers takes that category by a hair margin. After that, ok maybe he has some better movement in the ring, but he needs that because of his serious lack of power at this weight. He has the power of a light heavy for christs sake. Povetkin will give him no respect on the inside game, where Chambers always gets caught up for some reason :huh . Chambers can dance around all he wants but Povetkin is better at damn near every aspect of boxing than him. This isn't even the typical "boxer vs puncher" that some crack it up to be; because Povetkin IS the boxer and puncher in this matchup. Just be careful of people telling you to throw more money on Chambers, cause like I said there is no reasoning behind HOW he can pull this upset. Whether its a ko or it goes to the cards Povetkin has the clear edge. It is boxing and anything can happen, but im just not seeing how its even possible (for arguments sake)

You know, I watched what I could get of the fight off Youtube, and from waht I saw, Povetkin did not look great because Byrd's defense was as good as ever- parrying punches that would have landed agaisnt other fighters. Yeah, Byrd does not have that surreal, hummingbird like speed that he used to have way back in the Tuesday night fight days, but he is still a hell of a fighter to try to land on.

Haven't seen Chambers, so I am not going to comment or pick a winner, accept to say that he has won showdown figths with Rossi, Guinn, and Brock. He fights with pride, and that is dangeroud.

i was at chambers' last fight in tacoma against the boxing banker calvin brock. chambers dominated brock and the scores were a lot closer than i thought they would be. i also liked chambers' attitude after the fight. even though he won, he realized his performance was still a disappointment to himself on some level, and that he understood the need to greatly improve to be competitive in his fight against povetkin.

having said this, i don't think +425 is enough to bet any serious money on chambers. i think a good number would actually be in the +800 range as another poster mentioned. but put it this way, he has way more of a chance than buster douglas did that night in japan.

    Hey Huki,

as Povetkin's #1 backer, how would you rate his power?

I think he is a little underrated in that department, because in Friday, Byrd, and Donald, he has fought guys with very good defense and/or chins.

If, comparatively, he had made his bones against guys like Rachman, Moorer and Mesi, everyone would be talking about how big his hook is.

I think Chambers will give Povetkin some problems he hasn't encountered before, but I wouldn't bet against Povetkin getting another win.

Odds are Chambers is going to get badly outboxed and stopped. So he has very little chance.

I think it's rated fairly by most people right now. His one-punch power certainly isn't great, but he has great accumulative power. He has the rare ability in a HW of being able to throw hundreds and hundreds of power punches over 12 rounds without losing much snap in them late in a fight. His offensive arsenal and nonstop pressure would make it a very tough night for anyone in the top 10, because of not only the high volume, but because of the speed, huge variety of punches like no other HW right now, and the tricky angles on the inside. Povetkin is built to break fighters down and he has the mental strength to go along with his physical strengths/skills.

Chambers will be stopped.. that's about a 90% sure thing, not from one punch though. It will depend on how much Chambers will be able to take in the second half of the fight. We will see just how much of a Philly fighter he is inside. With Buddy McGirt, I could also see the fight getting stopped in his corner when Buddy sees Chambers can't win.

I really think that Eddie Chambers has the boxing skills, the ring intelligence and the fast delievery to keep Povetkin busy while tryin to figure him out. I don't know about dominance over Brock since it was a split decision ( 115-113 twice, 113-115) but if he can perform near his 100% then he will make it to the final bell with some rounds in the bag. Happens that I've seen this Povetkin guy against Imamu Mayfield on the undercard of the WBC fight Maskaev-Okhello, the Larry Donald fight and the Chris Byrd eliminator, and some other kayo displays he has produced thus far - he is a murderous puncher who doesn't waste too many punches, more than anything else, true killing instinct no matter how big/small - chubby/strong he looks - never would I pick against him in this division if he was not to go against a dangerous puncher himself and to keep him honest... Eddie is to steal shots and walk around him with snappy, speedy jabs and rights, block his murderous sharp and meaty punches with one high arm defense, with above average hand speed, average feet mobility and below average body movement, and let the clock run down... There have been technical mismatches between top ranked prize fighters, even in the heavyweight division, but suppose this will not be one of them... The harder puncher always gets the edge on such sort of fights.
