Chambers has the skill to beat Wlad on a points win ... but he doesn't have enough power to knock him out (which is what I feel needs to be done to beat Wlad) ...

Chambers will I feel take Wlad the distance, if they ever did hook up -

    Thoughts????

Hmm Im not sure what you mean? So Chambers have skills to win on points but he cant do it because Wlad need to be knocked out to get a win but Chambers doesnt have the power to do it? So Chambers will take Wlad distance??

No one has been sucessful trying to box with Wlad. Chris Byrd a good boxer has been dominated for every round in their two fights. Samuel Peter despite scoring 3 KDs was dominated for every round. Ibragimov dominated although in a boring fight. I think Calvin Brock did well before he went face first.

Wlad is the best boxer by a mile in the heavyweight division and its a shame for the contenders but he is also the best puncher.

I think you best summed it up in the thread title before muddling the issue.

Chambers is not going to outpoint Wlad. Nobody is. His jab is too much of a weapon combined with his physical size for anybody to outbox and outpoint him. And the man has no power. It's Chris Byrd all over again.

The sharp version of Chambers that beat Dimitrenko will keep it competitive with Wlad but will end up losing a decision or will end up stopped in the later rds.

Yeah, but Chambers is probably not dumb enough to try and 'walk him down' like Byrd did in their second fight.

I'd still like to see the fight though. Chambers was pretty aggressive against Dimitrenko and took the fight to him. Wlad is a completely different beast though.

chambers can move and give Wlad angles and he can bring the fight to Wlad ... he can match Wlad in skill but to beat Wlad you would have to impose your will and test his heart ... you can't just box with him and expect to get a points win ... you have to be able to land something effective - not just land.

guys who have that combination ... like Haye and Povetkin pose a chance but only because they have some slight power to gain some attention and respect.

I think that Chambers can dance with Klitshcko better than Byrd, he also has some long arms and good agility ... I just don't think he's strong enough to take control of the fight ... he can't do it with just boxing.

Don't get fooled by the Dimitrenko win. Watch that fight again. Dimitrenko made very little attempt to avoid the infight. Zero footwork. Dimitrenko's "footwork" consists of taking three steps back until he feels the ropes in his back. Zero lateral movement. That's his primary weakness, like in many of Dimitrenko's previous fights. A 6"7 guy that prefers the infight, thus neutralizing his height advantage should retire on the spot.

Chambers had to take ZERO punishment when he closed the distance to Dimitrenko, and then could wear him down in close quarters fighting without much risk. Wlad will simply sidestep, place a left hook to the chin or right to the temple every time Chambers walks up to him like that. Wlad's footwork and ring intelligence is on a whole different level.

Wlad has perfected his game of letting his shorter opponents run into him, find themselves in empty spaces and then firing off a barrage out of a safe distance without getting caught himself. Chambers will look pretty frustrated and outclassed after 2-3 rounds of this game.

Chambers will not fight Wlad the same he did against Dimitrenko. He usually fights his opponents differently. Against Peter, Chambers was usually at bay scoring with the jab, against Dimitrenko he was cutting off the ring and closing the distance.
