This guy had the tools to win and blew it...:patsch Another example of will overcoming skill. Povetkin proved he wanted the fight more...The guy is a ****ing work horse...good for him, bad for U.S HW prospects.

I don't think Chambers is finished, but I do think that he should move to cruiserweight -- he has no punch; and that isn't going to get you far in the heavyweight division

Chambers surprised me tonight with how sharp he looked in the first half of the fight. He also handled the big fight in foreign country situation well. I wasn't worried about Povetkin losing at any point because I knew the second half of the fight he would dominate, but some of those flush Chambers right hand counters were a bit scary. :D

Thats exactly what was running through my mind.

How can a profesional athlete show up not in good enough shape to fight the whole fight? I could understand if he just got completely outclassed, but he looked good when he actually could be bothered to do something.

Conditioning is something that you can only achieve through hardwork, but more importantly its something there is no excuse for not working hard for.

I just don't get it, if he showed up in shape and still lost he would at leat be getting alot more money for his next fight, and might have even won the damn fight.

I think it has as much to do with psychological **** as conditioning. He seems to lack confidence and is one of those guys who has a mental block when it comes to simply letting your hands go. It's a strange thing.. but not very uncommon.

Its not mental thing. You can do only what your opponent allows you to do. Antonio Margarito may throw an avg of 100 punches per round but when he faces Floyd Mayweather or even Paul Williams he aint gonna throw even half of that. Chambers didnt throw because he tested the power of Povetkins punches early and was afraid to get countered by one of those punches when he is not paying attention to his defense. Povetkin is not going to throw that many combinations against Wlad you will see.

Eh, if Chambers conditioned himself properly, he;d probably be a LHW, not even a CW. I've been saying all along I'm not impressed. For someone nicknamed "fast", he's awfully chubby and slow with the lower body. If he stays at HW, he'll be not much more than a gatekeeper.

On the other hand, Povetkin didn't do as well as I would have hoped. No shot whatsoever vs Klit.

Chambers did look like he could have been in better shape....Povetkin don't look like he's in shape either....but he is in Shape....just not ripped.

I've seen many fighter who was ripped who was not in shape...pretty body, but lacking in conditioning.

I'm glad I saw the fight. I can now root for Chambers...
Chambers fought the wrong russian. He should have fought Chagov.(sp)

Something that everyone seems to be ignoring (especially by Kellerman and co.) is Povetkin's early and consistent work to the body.

damn, i was impressed with chambers early. he owned povetkin through five. I gave him 4 of the first 5. But just stopped thowing after that. By the end i had it 115-112 for Povetkin. It didn't make any sense. Mcgirt was giving great advice:

let your friggin hands go Eddie. that's all he had to do.

Povetkin deserves credit. He is a solid hw, showing heart and letting his hands go but I felt if chambers had just kept his pace, he would've stopped povetkin on cuts. but it's clear his weight prevented him from doing so. He needs to get down to 200 even. Here, he could maintain better output and move his damn feet. He was stuck in cement the whole fight.

This guy could be the #2 hw in the world if he would go down to 200. I won't hold my breath. C-Money, tell your boy to start running more. He is the best American out there.

I hear ya:yep Keep in mind Mcgirt just got here. Team Chambers must reassess and make some different decisions. I liked the corner work and maybe they hire a conditioning coach as well?:happy

I must say though thats how he's always been and sometimes it aint enough. I truly expected him to rise to the next level and thought he was for 5 Rounds;)
