I really believe this. He was absolutely ripping Povetkin with almost every right hand he threw in the first four rounds. He then either just quit or tasted Povetkin's power and stopped exchanging.

Even late in the fight the handful of times Chambers did throw he was actually staggering Povetkin back with every landed punch. I've seen Povetkin quite a bit but Chambers really showed how pourous his defense can be, Chambers landed at a 50% rate but chose not to work. If he had worked, I think he quite possibly could have TKO'd Povetkin.

    What a shame.

    Congrats to Povetkin.

Chambers was terribly accurate but terribly inactive. If he had either a bit more pop to his punches or threw alot more, I think he could've gotten a knockdown, knockdowns, or a knockout.

Chambers impressed the hell out of me in the first 4 rounds, after that I think he was waiting for the guy to tire out.

    Povetkin made adjustments.

Povetkin looked tired for the last quarter of the fight. Chambers was too lazy to do anything. He looked fresh till the end but did not have the heart to do anything.

Even in the early rounds Povetkin was doing most the work. Chambers caught him a few times but catching someone once every round when they are outworking you is not going to win you the rounds.

Povetkin is nothing special. Wlad will slaughter him.

I agree completely! He (chambers) almost landed at will in the first few rounds.
This is what I wrote in another topic

Second and most important: chambers is good and has much talent. He surprised me.

BUT, if you almost stop punching after three rounds, showing no desire to win, no effort to hit your opponent, and no fighting spirit to engage, THEN it's better to retire otherwise wtf are you doing inside that ring. So for my part he stays at heavyweight but he's gotta do what a boxer does: punching.

That was what I ment my friend.

What's sad is that chambers almost hit povetkin AT WILL with that right hand in the first three rounds.

IMO it's not a matter of choice, it's a matter of wanting to do more but simply not able to. Chambers hasn't got another gear, at least I've never seen it.

Well you need to have something resembling a punch if you want to KO someone above bum level. It's not a matter of "should have", Chambers just couldn't do it.

Dude never even had him stunned, if he HAD let more shots go after the initial quick and surprising 2-3, he would have been hit with some clean shots himself.

You're right. But the problem was the 90-100 REAL SHOTS coming every round. Povetkin is like a MACHINE. Thats the most i remember seeing Eddie get hit. After round 4? I thought it was gonna be a great night:verysad Yet Povetkin forced Chambers into a defensive shell and Eddie let it slip away:-(

The question's now ate, can Povetkin do the same to Wlad? Can he take Wlad's rights? Can he control rounds with volume?

If you don't like that then what are you doing here?
These kind of conversations are completely normal.

The two things that impressed me by Povetkin were his adjustments to Chambers style and his workrate.

A workrate like that is unheard of today in the heavyweight division. If he can improve his stamina a bit more, he will be a tough fight for anyone. With a workrate like that he will not let anyone rest. His opponent is going to have to fight him, every minute of every round for the durration of the fight.

The adjustment he made to Chambers took away Chambers game and left Chambers in a poor position to counter when he needed to.

I do think Vlad will knock him out though. He took some flush shots from Chambers very well, but Vlad's power is on another level. His hi-workrate, hi-intensity style could give Vlad fits, but his defense will let him down. He cannot afford to absord clean power shots like that against a big hitter like Vlad.

I give Chambers a lot of credit though. That man is talented. He is young. He can get better. I hope he does because the heavyweight division could use the American talent.

Chambers needs to drop at least 15lbs!
