Chambers vs Peter on FNF March 27!!!

Peter's power is as overrated as it gets. If Peter loses this fight he becomes a Dominick Guinn type fighter in the Heavyweight Division. Dumb fight for no reward.

 

Very nice matchup for a change!

Major kudos to both fighters for making this happen if it really does. We need more of the top guys fighting the top guys.

One goes up & one goes down, the way it should be.

I'm leaning towards Chambers to win by UD but it's very possible that Peter learns to close the distance better & catches Eddie with something huge. I love this fight & I hope it truly happens..................

Did you see that 2/3rds of those punches were simple volume punches? I think Povetkin is a great talent, but he's very amateurish in his approach. If he can tighten his style, he could be a true combo machine.

 

Chambers did show a good Chin against Povetkin. He took several flush punches and kept coming.

 

As for the fight? I'm excited ESPN is taking this approach. I think they know boxing needs this injection of great fights.

I'd say, if Chambers stays slick in the ring, Peter doesn't have a chance. However, that punching power of Peter's is what makes this really exciting. I'm sticking with Chambers for this one.

My reason? Chambers showed that he has the speed and agility to take on a volume puncher like Povetkin. If he can maneuver his way around Povetkin for a little, I'd say he can definately move around a plodding power puncher like Peter. That's if and only if he doesn't fall into his "Buddah Defense"* like he did against Povetkin in the later rounds.

* "Buddah Defense" - Coined by Large at the No Mas blog after watching Povetkin Vs. Chambers. A defense in which a fighter simply defends himself and appears to be happy enough to not fight back.

 

Peter's power against his best competition has been non existent. His best KO is Glass Jawed Oleg Maskaev.

 

That I'm aware of, but he did take on fighters that are prepared for power punchers. Most of the time when you see a power puncher reach a higher level his shots seem non-existent. That's mainly because his opposition is ready for power shots. Oleg got smashed, I wouldn't expect many fighters to survive against Peter if they allow shots like that.

As far as the fight goes, I like Chambers to UD Peter so long as the focus stays there. Great matchup though!

people shouldn't sleep too much on peter. his two losses are against the klit brothers, hardly a disgrace. peter is only ineffecitve when u can keep him at distance. when u let him inside and get comfortable, peter can get off. he was able to counter toney, a good counter puncher like chambers with right hands. that could happen here too. We really don't know how good chamber's chin is either. Povetkin is not a power puncher. Chambers is not a big puncher, but he delivers quick and very sharp punches that can do a lot of damage.

if chambers had better feet and movement, id give him the advantage. but, chambers although very skilled wears down and will be too stationary for peter late in the fight. Sam has an underrated workrate.

that being said, the sustained beatings from wlad and vitali may have him finished mentally and/or physically. u can never tell. if sam still has his heart and desire, he can be the #3 hw.

this is a great fight though between 2 real top 10 hws but my boy sam gonna win on pts with a late rally...woot woot :yep

i agree. and im not so sure peter would want a rematch with either one. those 2 beatings were ****ing brutal. while he was competitive with wlad in the rounds he scored kds, peter took vicious shots all 12 rounds.

he would need to fight in a eliminator to get a shot. Wlad/Vitali-Peter 2 as an optional just has no appeal right now.

I would like Peter to go after the wba strap. povetkin, haye, arreola are fights id love to see peter involved with in the near future.

Chambers will run circles around the slow as hell African winning a one-sided fight by a wide point decision.
Peter has a puncher's chance.Thats for sure! However,I guess that Chambers will win 9 out of 10 fights against the slow and one-dimensional Nigerian.
