Champ Silva threatens Sonnen's face, teeth and limbs ahead of UFC 148 by Steven Marrocco on Jun 25, 2012 at 3:45 pm ET The Anderson Silva that dialed in for a media call promoting UFC 148 was different than any heard before. The alternately polite, dismissive and non-communicative UFC middleweight champion was replaced by a guy who breathed fire for his opponent before leaving early, the smoke still clearing on his words. "First of all, Chael is a criminal," Silva (31-4 MMA, 14-0 UFC) said through translator and manager Ed Soares. "He's been convicted of crimes. He doesn't deserve to be inside the octagon. And when the time comes and the time is right, I'm going to break his face and break every one of his teeth in his mouth." But it didn't end there it went on and on. Every mention of Sonnen (27-11-1 MMA, 6-4 UFC), who also participated on the call, brought forth a new stream of vitriol from Silva. "People who live in the past, and things that are in the past, are in museums," Silva said about his past performance against Sonnen, which took place at UFC 117 and ended in a come-from-behind, fifth-round submission victory for the champ. "Right now, I'm focused on what's going to happen in the next few weeks, and right now, playtime is over. Lets hope this really does happen.....
Can you blame him? Sonnen has been incessent. You wouldn't mind if he was good enough to back up his talk. But he's barely one up from a tin can, is a steroid cheat and doesn't have a fraction of the skills to back up his big mouth. I hope Silva takes his head home on a platter and humiliates him.
I expect Silva to taunt a lot, fight with tons of passion, and eventually go for the ko getting it in highlight fashion. Hope he does along with various exchanges from both.
can't wait! i think silva will end it in one round. it would be great if he did actually manage to break one or two of sonnen's teeth, wouldn't it? or at least 'accidently' kick chael in the balls at some stage, really hard of course!
I have yet to understand why your such a Sonnen fan, and think he is gonna win. He hardly "beat" Bisping, and before that, beat a guy with no ground game at all. Anderson seemed caught off guard for most of the fight the first time. Sonnen was full of surprises. What new thing does he have to show Anderson this time that would shock him? Full on Muay Thai? Sonnen gave Anderson everything he had and still lost. The pressure is on Sonnen to prove he can do that and more. We all ready know what Anderson can do to Sonnen.
You don't have to be a fan of only the "best" guys, besides you act like the first 4 rounds didn't happen, Silva was beat worse in those 4 and half rounds then he has in his entire UFC career. Why is the pressure on Sonnen? The pressure is on Silva to proove the first 24 and half minutes of their last fight was a fluke.
atsch Trash Sonnen all you like, but last time they fought Sonnen knocked Anderson down twice with his fists and was two minutes away from winning 5-0 on all cards. With a couple of 10-8 rounds, he was so dominant. And he pressed the fight every minute of every round. :nono Make all the excuses you want about how Anderson was injured or homesick (and I personally believe that he WAS below par), but that's all talk. Sonnen 1 was Anderson's greatest victory. Sonnen 2 is Anderson's biggest fight. Like it or not, Chael is Anderson's greatest rival because nobody else has even been competitive with him, whereas Chael kicked his ass for 22 minutes. :bart :hat
What surprises was Sonnen full of? :huh That he wasn't afraid, and was actually keen to get in Anderson's face and fight him? That's no surprise. Sonnen is in everyone's face. Or was the surprise that Chael elected to take him to the ground and work him over? :huh Chael fought Anderson the same way he fights everyone. Move forward to attack, look for the takedown, ground and pound. There were only three surprises in that fight. 1) How easily Chael controlled Anderson. 2) That Chael was twice able to knock Anderson down with his fists. 3) That Anderson managed the miracle submission after losing every minute of the fight prior to that. :smoke :hat
I don't think he'll have a choice there. Chael will be moving forward. He's not the type of guy to let Anderson Silva stand there and bow to him or try to shake his hand in the cage or dance around without engaging. I don't think he'll give Anderson the space to showboat. :hat
