    Good memory, you're right, he was.

    He even wore their logo (a pack with one cigarette extending out) on his trunks.

    I always thought that was so strange.

    Also heard that Daniel Zaragza was a heavy smoker while a world champion !!

    Sorry to rain on the parade, FM, but SRR 'n Louis (partial to cigars), as well. In the '30s 'n '40s, smoking, like drinking, was a boy's rite of passage.

    Would smoking after training do any harm? Or on a day when you aren't training?

    Smoking is bad for fitness because obviously it damages the lungs, but also because it restricts oxygen getting to the muscles. Well, what if you hadn't smoked on a training day, or within a few hours of training?

    I wouldn't criticise a fighter for having a few on a night out. The binge drinking will be far worse than a few ***s

    Most of the classic boxers from the 1910s and 20's used to smoke inbetween rounds.
