Champions with the the greatest fighting spirit, so not prelim guys who left their faces on the canvas or compilers who constructed pristine records. Immaculate technique does not disqualify spirit but neither does it make it. And not all heavies, please.

Bazooka Limon, Bobby Chacon, Larry Holmes, Wilfredo Gomez, Corny Boza Edwards, all these guys instantly spring to mind from my own era.

I think something often overlooked are the road warriors. Toughest thing to do in the sport. So with that in mind how about a shout for the toughness and mental fortitude of a guy like Brian Mitchell?

Lots of guys have big time careers and manage to go into the lions den maybe a few times their whole career. not Brian. He was always going into the lions den. It takes a lot of consistency and mental strength to come out with the W when everyone in the arena is cheering for the other guy. Let alone how the scoring in bouts favors the house fighters so often.

Hector Camacho, the way he went up in weight with age and lost his dvantages all while holding on against Chavez, Oscar, and Trinidad was valiant.
Salvador Sanchez too, the deeper he went in a fight, the harder he fought.

Ray Leonard always got more dangerous the longer the fight went.

Marquez too as per the first and fourth Pacquiao fights and against Diaz.
