    Which champion can claim to have scored the most championship round stoppages, in any division? For example, to take some examples from the 1970s-

    Roberto Duran has 5 (Ken Buchanan, Leonico Ortiz, Ray Lampkin, Vilomar Fernandez, Lou Bizzarro)

    Saensak Muangsurin has 3 (Francisco Moreno, Jo Kimpuani, Monroe Brooks)

    Muhammad Ali has 3 (Oscar Bonavena, Chuck Wepner, Joe Frazier III)

    Jose Napoles has 2 (Curtis Cokes I, Ernie Lopez)

    Sugar Ray Leonard has 2 (Hearns and Benitez!)

    Carlos Monzon has 2 (Emile Griffith 1, Jean-Claude Bouttier)

    But who had the most in the 15 round era?

    Are we counting between rounds 11-15? Eusebio Pedroza had 6 for his alphabet title.

    No, just 13-15, ie. the championship rounds of the 15 round era.

    Yeah the championship rounds of the 15 round era were 11-15 though weren't they?

    Because a regular world level bout went 10, a championship bout had another 5. It's only in hindsight that we think of it as 13-15, because of the new limit of 12.

    Well, there was no universal law back then, but yes: the key thing is that champions of the 15 round era had to think about what happened after the 12th round.

    I know what you mean, as i say in hindsight that is. When you think that fighters back then had to go an extra 5 on top of their regular 10 to earn championship status, compared to the extra 2 now, it sure seems a lot more of a daunting task.

    Rounds 13 to 15 were the championship rds. There were often fights fought over 12 at that time NABF, big international and eliminators.

    Does Duran have the record then? What a warrior. Just moving around the ring after 12 rounds of championship boxing is a terrific feat of athletcism.
