That's a good point. People tend to forget such minor details (myself included) and get carried away with the post Ortiz-fight hype. I think Khan needs a few tune-up fights before facing Maidana, but would potentially be able to outbox him. He just needs to perfect his defence.
Im a big fan of Maidana and personally thought he won the Kotelnik fight ... Khan v Maidana would be a cracking fight - Maidanas chin isnt great and hes been down a few times in his career but he hits like a mule .... Khan should take this fight and if he bottles it then respect for Khan has gone ... personally the Khan that boxed for 8 rounds on saturday would win this fight but he tired towards the eand his guard slipped a few times so could come under pressure late on - but then again he may have Maidanas number by then .... cmon franky get it on !
Some good points. Maybe the thread title should have been who would win. I think some people are quick to write of Khan and say he has no chance. Like people have brought up though, there are suspicions of Maidana's chin. Personally it is a fight i would love to see happen - not only because Maidana is mandatory, but i think the win would be up for grabs.. a fight i couldn't conifidently call. I hope Khan doesn't duck this fight in anyway if it is brought up.
kahn would beat maidana imo.....maidana isnt nothing special kahns speed would keep him one step ahead...
I dont think it will happen straight away but in the future yes. I would hope Khan would beat him as Id like to see him shut up those glass jaw ****ers.
In ring Megazine Roach mentioned Khan wants to fight on U.S. television, Roach said. I think Khan-Maidana could be a big TV fight in L.A. or Las Vegas, but it needs to be built up. Maidana needs to fight one or two times more in the States. Maybe he and Amir could co-headline a card, and then they can get it on. So may be we see this fight down the road but not his next fight.
It wont be his next fight anyway because Salita is his mandatory and the negotiation peri9od is already under way. He would have to get by Salita (easier said than done) and then he would have to face Maidana or give up the belt. 2 very tough fights but that is how it should be. When you are a champ, there should be no such thing as a gimme fight anyway, no tune ups and no stay busys, just top class fighters
Would the interim champion fight the chamion though in WBA? im not sure on that one. I think Maidana will definitely ask for a shot, whoever is mandatory. I hope this is so, i don't want to see Khan against another soft-hitting Ukranian..
Roach and Warren have already been quoted in the UK tabloids that Khan will have a couple of fights before fighting Maidana. EM is getting brought up frequently.
It is pathetic that he isnt made to fight him.If he isnt ready for Maidina then he shouldnt have the belt in the ****ing first place. No wonder boxing is dying on its arse!
