I'd love to see him come back against Fury if Fury beats Wlad again. If Vitali were to ever come back, that would be the time. He never definitively said he was never going to fight again. I figure he's probably done for good, even if Fury beats Wlad again. But I wouldn't be surprised if he did come back under that scenario.
I don't think we'll see Vitali back in the ring unless it's for a charity event or something along those lines.
He says on Sky boxing site tonight that Wlad will beat Fury in return, just a bad night for Wlad. I don't see him coming back but he'd win in true Rocky style if he did.
Fury would beat him IMO. His defense was his size and Fury is longer, bigger and rangier. He doesn't really have elite power and in his mid 40s his workrate probably isn't what it used to be. Wilder is a much more realistic fight, easier to beat and Vitali is WBC champion emeritus anyway.
Based on age Fury would probably beat him, but prime v prime I disagree. Even on age its a fascinating matchup. Vitali is a full 6'7.5 and I doubt Fury is the 6'9 he claims. He probably has no more than a half inch on VK. Meanwhile, VK has better power (near elite, unrivaled for someone who was primarily an arm puncher), much better chin. His defense was size and sensational reflexes, much better prime than Fury's. I see it being a brutal fight, the exact opposite of Wlad Fury. Prime VK I'm confident would eventually wear him down and stop him, even if Fury landed more punches earlier on. I could still see that happening in a return fight, actually.
Wouldnt like for him to come back. Most people have always criticized the k bros and Fury beating a 40 year old Wlad and an even older Vitali might give those haters a chance to say tols you so
In Vitali's prime before the injuries Fury would be lucky to see mid rounds. Comeback Vitali, slower arm puncher but still teak tough, would also beast him.
Yeah, prime Vitali beats him. But with years and injuries Vitali lost any real pop and by the time he made his comeback he was a bonafide arm puncher who beat his opponents by outworking them. But now, at the age of what, 45? He probably doesn't have the stamina to do that.
I think Vitali is A. Too busy with Ukrainian politics to comeback. B. Smart enough to recognise that he is done. He already retired once through injury, and though he didn't lose many rounds during his comeback, was clearly not the fighter he was by the time he retired again. I don't subscribe to triangle theory, but the Chisora fight was a below average performance by VK standards, and showed his age.
