Age is a number, Mayweather is pretty close to being peak, this version beats the 20/21 year old version...agree?

Look half the matchups are boring, always another fight we would rather see...also with Pac fighting Marquez then the build upexcuses from both parties means they wont be ready for dec...why dosent Floyd beat Berto another fighter to add to his resume in dec...its sellable......**** it dosent matter ifs it Berto we just want him to fight fight fight.

If he fights pac next, good...then fight again in 3 months.

He likes money right in those 6 fights or more he could make well over 120 million dollers..

 

Berto is a meaningless fight though. He's not much good anyway and he lost, decisively, to a man Floyd just knocked on his ass. I couldn't give a **** about Floyd lining his pockets - I want to see someone with his skill levels fight great fighters.

Pac will be available at 147 after November (short of Marquez pulling off a miracle). There's no reason the fight can't be made for Easter time, it's not like Floyd's massively active and this gets in the way of him earning.

Also, Floyd would make a career-high, boxing record payday for the fight. It is the two top P4P fighters battling for supremacy. When was the last time that happened? Chavez-Whitaker?

The only fight outside of Manny that actually means anything is against Martinez. And that just won't happen.

Your first point really is quite silly. The 21 year old version of Tyson would splatter the 28 year old version. The 21 year old version of Floyd was a lot smaller, so it would hardly be a reasonable comparison. Age is not "just" a number, unless you're an idiot and think that Berbick's win over a 40 year old Ali was as good as Frazier's over a 30 year old.

The fights listed were broadly meaningless. Beating Cotto or Margarito has some value, but only if he does so in better fashion that Pac did. Plus they're on Top Rank, so I can't see it happening.

If he fights anyone next, it will likely be someone like Alvarez.

 

Yes I do. It happens in boxing all the time. It happened with Tony Bellew last year. He knocked the guy down and when he got up and the ref waved fight on he was still looking at the referee when bellew put him out with a right hand. My schedule i suggest for Floyd is pure fiction with the backdrop of reality. The fights i mentioned are one i thought were reasonable to make, wouldnt take the time and negotiations to last forever.

In an ideal, utopia world of dreams and wizards ok yes then fight Pac in Dec and Martinez early next year...if he wins both...then wow secures a great leacy.

But why cant we see Floyd fights a variety of styles? Ali did, Sugar Ray Leonard did.

Everyone who "sees boxing as a whole" knows that the ONLY guy Floyd should fight is a little Filipino dude with a much better record. That does something for the sport and would enhance Floyd's reputation - win or lose.

A fight against Berto would be a tedious mismatch (and wouldn’t happen anyway – Haymon doesn’t like to match his fighters). It certainly wouldn’t be fun, even if he has acquired a belt that he had no right challenging for. Having a belt does not make a fight more meaningful, especially when the belt holder is a scrub like Andre-****ing-Berto, a guy who lost to a man Floyd just flattened. Belt or not, what’s the point?

Against Cotto/Margarito… it was a fight that should have happened at 147 either after Cotto beat Mosley or Margo beat Cotto. Now though, it’s meaningless. Cotto is clearly on the slide (hurts to say that) just like Margarito is. I doubt there’ll be much left of them after their rematch, so to make that fight is just more cherry-picking.

If you really want to see one of the two best fighters in the sport beat negligible opposition until they retire, great. I don’t and I expect better from someone as arrogant and self-celebrating as Floyd. Manny’s at least assured his position.

Did anyone really think Vernon Forrest would beat Mosley? No and Mosley is an ATG, Forrest isnt...but it would tough style matchup for Shane. Berto isnt, hell if he lost his last fight i wouldnt even mentioned his name, I just want to see Floyd fight the toughest comp around 4 times a year.

Mosley is NOT an ATG as much as I loved watching him. And I don’t really get your point here – Mosley was in his prime, was viewed by many as the best fighter in the world, and Forrest was the BEST challenger out there. Berto is not, end of discussion. If you really think he is, I repeat that you have very low standards.

Also, Floyd will NOT fight three-four times a year. Hypothesising a series of fights that just won’t happen is ******ed.

Anyway, the final part – the only fight that should be made is against Pac. That’s a given. If not then I think…

Khan in March 2012 – not a bad fight, Khan would beat anyone at 147 IMO, except Timmy
Manny in August 2012 – the only fight worth making
Sergio Martinez in February 2013 – a true challenge for Floyd, and Sergio would be old enough to lose at this stage

 

I have see many interviews by Merchant with PBF and basically not giving him a fair shake. PBF broke no rules rather it was Ortiz who did. Ortiz foul was intentional and blatant which Merchant did not give him a hard time about. Merchant showed have been questioning PBF about his quality performance 42-0 and how even at age 34 and with a 16 month layoff he is still performing with consumate skill. PBF said he would fight toe to toe which he did ala in the Mosley and stopped the supposed hungry and younger fighter basically outclassed him. Hard work skills and dedication.

 

Khan would lose to several fighters at 147 and 140.
