Atfirst I derided this fight as a joke.

    My opinion has somewhat changed.

Rightly or wrongly mosley is a top welterweight today. As a welterweight opponent pac could only better mosley by fighting floyd or berto.

As a welterweight this is a credible opponent in my opinion.

My issue is no longer that mosley is a shite opponent because there are few better welterweights in the world today.

My issue is now simply that pac is fighting in the wrong division. It is indicative of how weak the 147 division is that sugar shane is a top 5 without beating anyone for 2 years.

As a welterweight champion, pac has not fought anyone outside the top 5. As a welterweight he is doing all we can expect of him. As a welterweight, dare I say, he is fighting the best available opposition (replace shane with berto and it would have been am improvement by one place).

Pac has admitted he can still make 140, one of the richest divisions in boxing. He is a former belt holder in the 154 division, arguably the division that would test him the most.

Why is he staying in a crap division? That is my issue, as a defence shane is credible, as a p4p star who has publicly admitted he can make 140, shane is not credible.

I don't see this as a joke anymore, I actually think it improves his legacy; if he can fight ortiz he's essentially cleaned up the division.

My issue is that I have higher expectations of him. When you read the history of the sport we have langford fighting guys from gans to johnson; armstrong being the champ in 3 divisions and defending his 147 belt 17 times; louis dominating his division for a decade; fitzsimmons knocking out the best heavyweights of his era whilst weighing in the 160's; robinson cleaning out 2 divisions and taking maxim all the way before the heat got to him. These are guys who never stopped challenging themselves.

If pac wants to join this list (which I think he's capable of doing) he needs to leave this division.

In the case of Langford and fitszimmons, aren't those achievements similar to the likes of Royce Gracie beating HWs when he weighed 160lb? Sure it's great but as the sport
evolved that kind of feat just wouldn't be practical anymore. SRR is considered p4p the greatest but I can't see a MW version of him knocking out Louis.

Good post. People call Mosley **** but they cant come up with a better opponent except Sergio Martinez (too big - fight would never happen) ,and Floyd Mayweather (doesn't want to fight Pac).

The only guys left are the ones down at 140 , and Shane has as good of a chance or better then any of those.

Because it is where the money fights are. Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, or even Clottey make more financial sense than Bradley, Khan, and the rest of the 140's. Infact, the purse of Cotto (even if not against Pac) alone would probably be the combined purse of Bradley, Khan, etc.

Pac is the best fighter in the world today. He shouldn't continue to fight people who look like **** in their last fight (In Mosley's case, it was his last two fights). I'll never support this sham, even if it turns out to be competitive. It amazes me that people even accept the Margo win as credible, and now they're willing to turn a blind eye towards Mosley too?

Arum could literally feed some people **** and six months later they'd say it was one of the nicest meals in their life.

Bull. There are guys at welterweight that few people have heard of that are better than Mosley. And several guys that plenty of people know about at 140 who are all way better than Mosley.
Roach and Arum are both on record from a year ago talking about how Mosley isn't a credible opponent because he's slipped so badly, now all the sudden they're selling the fight and people are buying it.

Buying this fight is nothing more than throwing a chunk of money down at three-card monte. You're just an easy mark.

wait till pac destroys mosley, then you're gonna change your tune.

He's staying at 147 so he won't give Mayweather any advantages. Going back down and then back up then back down can't be good on the body.

but he's a natural 140 pounder according to himself and half of his fans, the other half think he's a lightweight

    Change my tune to what?

Not good for his body but good for his legacy.

Not quite because he beat the likes of choynski, sharkey and corbett. Langford fought gans, walcott and johnson!

I'd say am equivalent sort of achievement would be pac knocking out the winner of the s6.

It is a ridiculous ask but if he wants to be the goat that's what he'd do imo.

To cement top 5, i'd say he needs to beat floyd 147, bradley 140, jmm 140, martinez 160, alvarez 154.

All winnable fights for pac imo. I'd make him the favourite in every one.

it aint a weak division. it just happen that two of the best today are at this division that it makes others seem less.

A shot Shane Mosley, is still far more dangerous than Berto, Ortiz or any of the 140 pounders.

I kinda think that the guys at 140 don't want to come up to Manny's weight. What's stopping the 140lbers from coming up a few pounds to fight a 144lber? Not much really in my book. Most if not all of the 140lbers will weigh more than Manny on fight night anyways.
