Wasn't the dude who supplied FNF with fighters the guy who went in with Tyson to form Iron Mike Promotions and then sold the whole thing to Haymon? Garry Jonas?

I think it might just reflect the realities of the cost producing weekly shows. And even then, in the past, it also wasn't shown every week, or in an easy to follow regular schedule.

    1 fight a month?
Since when have Haymon fighters been that active?

I prefer the weekly show format. I don't buy for a minute that the fights will be higher quality. I fear we'll get the same level of fights just less often.
Also, a monthly show is a lot easier to fade into obscurity than a weekly one.

Do you REALLY think the fights will be better quality with Haymon?? They'll just be showcases for his fighters

RIP FNF. It's like a part of my youth is gone. They might not have been world champions but I began following the sport with the likes of Teddy Reid, J.C. Candelo, Ray Oliveira, Dana Rosenblatt, Omar Sheika, and Vivian Harris.

It had a good run, but I guess everything runs its course.

No way does Teddy Atlas continue as a host. He is too much of a loose cannon. If Haymon controls the media that gets invited to his press conferences, you think he is going to let Atlas be a host on his series? No chance.

The problem with the Haymon boxing takeover is what happens in 2 years when all these time buys and Haymon's investor pool of funds runs out?
If he can get the networks to start paying for the cards, then, all is good and he'll probably take over the boxing world, at least in the U.S.
But, what if that doesn't happen?

In the meantime, other than Golden Boy and Top Rank, its possible the other promoters go out of business. Other than HBO, nobody is paying for boxing cards anymore. Smaller promoters won't survive or will have to live off of small shows breaking even.
You can't blame the networks at this point. Why should they pay for boxing when they can get it for free? But, in 2 years, when it isn't free anymore, how many will want to pay for it?

I agree it was fun watching fighters develop on FNF and move on to bigger things Juan Diaz and Jermain Taylor come to mind. Saw both several times real early in their careers on FNF.
