I was talking with my brother and father yesterday about the state of boxing. We all agreed that it seems fighters today don't have the heart or the reason to fight it out like in the past. The Hopkins/Dawson fight was what brought this about.

We believe that the reason Pac is as huge a hit with casual fans is that normally his fights are filled with action. Most of us will agree that Mayweather is possibly the most technically efficient fighter we have in this era, but he is boring to watch.

Today, all fighters are making 1,000,000+ in the big PPV fights. Hopkins I'm sure brought in several million. regardless of how the fight ends, he makes his millions. So why not fake an injury make several million for less then 6 minutes of work?

Thats why I thinlk purses shiould be split. winner takes 75%, loser 25%,of an agreed upon purse. so if its 10 million. winner gets 7.5 million. This, in my mind, gives boxers more incentive, thus giving us, the fans, more exciting fights.

    Just a though...

Your intentions are good, but the results would have Terri le, unintended consequences. You would have more guys stinking up the joint to ensure the win and the much bigger payday that comes with it. You would also have more instances of guys avoiding tough fights and cherry picking in order to ensure the 75% split.

So make the purse split 55/45, but if one wins by KO then it increases to 75/25.

The above part is where the problem really is. Real boxing fans like most of us on here enjoy watching PBF because of the reason you stated but casual fans just wanna see someone block punches with their face constantly, then get KTFO. Don't know if there is a solution to this. Maybe we could ban all defensively minded fighters or something equally stupid.

and it doesn't matter how much incentive you give some of these guys because they are forced to fight in a boring style by simply being outclassed by defensively minded fighters like PBF and Wlad.

KO bonuses and win bonuses would be beneficial. Also A board of control that controls the sport and tells you who you have to fight next and decides how much you get paid.

Make boxing lke the amateurs, with tournaents where you just fight who they put in front of you, and the board of control pays out for the winner, and smaller amount for the loser.

Basically the same as how you are paid in Golf/ Tennis/ Formulae One etc..

Completely get rid of Managers and promoters, they wouldn't be needed.

I like the idea of bonus's for how the fight ends. KO is a certain, bonus, TKO another, and so on.

In my dream of dreams, getting rid of all the alphabet organizations would be the best thing to happen to boxing
