Froch. Clearly a hard as nails fighter but through his career up to the super 6 i saw him stomping round the ring with no jab, awful defence and a crude ugly offence. I thought he was delusional calling out Calzaghe all the time and when i saw the line up for the Super 6 i cringed for Carl. Turns out i was very wrong. I think he got lucky as **** against Taylor but it is a 36 minute contest not a 35 minute contest. As much as i wanted to i couldnt give the decision to Froch in the Dirrell fight either. But that raw brutality does grind his opponants down, even at the top level, no shame in losing to Andre Ward cuz he is very very good. And he improved, alot.
I think Helenius has much better resume and he´s unbeaten. He is also fighting Teper as his next comeback fight. IMO it´s a top10 vs top10.
Willie Monroe Jr. earned my respect, he always been a little bit of a runner, but when push came to shove he stood in the middle of the ring and at least attempted to go toe to toe with GGG, which took huge cojones.
I was wrong about Andre Dirrell. I thought he would be the next superstar in boxing. I was also wrong about Calzaghe. I was 100% sure Kessler would beat his ass but instead he won decisively and beat Hopkins. I didn´t rate Lee after his first couple of losses and now he´s top5 MW.
Froch Thought he was a normal fighter a few years back, but really turned it around. He's a **** but a very charming one at that. And he's one hell of a fighter. What he did to Bute was legendary stuff and I was cheering for Bute too. Damn. That was being cobra'd at its zenith.
I used to think Bradley was a boring fighter. Now I think he's the one guy in any weight divisions top 30, who can have an entertaining and competitive fight with the very best of the top 30 (Brook, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Khan, etc) and the very worst of the top 30 (Josesito Lopez, Berto, Bizier etc) win, lose or draw
Both the Andre's from the Super 6 One emerged a complete joke, the other the potential face of baaxing Now the joke's transormed himself with a real gutsy showing against Sir James, while the other's become the complete joke
But you weren't wrong really. You haven't changed your mind, rather, Bradley changed his style. After the hate he got for the disputed Pac decision, he seemed to take a conscious decision to win back the public by becoming an unhinged brawler (with a brief return to pure boxing against Marquez). Fighters who I have changed my mind about: - Froch, I was an unreserved fan. But the more media coverage he has, the less I like him. He increasingly strikes me as a horrible, snide man - all wounded pride and self-regard. I really hope he just retires quietly and enjoys his money before the boxing legacy is entirely obscured by the miasma of bitterness he exudes. - deGale , admire the way he rebuilt his career after the Groves fight, fighting out of the limelight. Taking on tough fights abroad and working his way back up without too much hype. - Tony Bellew, I used to think he was a decent fellow playing the knob to get bum-on-seats. Coming to suspect that he is either a genuine knob, or has just become bewildered by his own lies.
