One of my favorite aspects of boxing is watching a fighter I don't like and hoping to see him lose. There's nothing like watching your favorite fighter win, but watching a Prince Naseem Hamed get beaten up is close. Mayweather leverages his villian role into huge PPV numbers.

Sometimes, however, a fighter I start off disliking ends up being a guy I respect. It's rare, but lately both Carl Froch and Paulie Malignaggi have made that switch.

Froch is always in exciting fights. Paulie is probably the most honest voice in boxing. Plus, he has to execute his game plan from bell to bell in order to have a chance to win.

Are there any fighters you've changed your opinions about?

Also probably Roy Jones. Maybe Ortiz as well.

I understand Ortiz. I wasn't on his bandwagon before the Maidana loss, but his statements didn't sit well with me. I kind of wrote it off as "he's a kid, give him some time." But now, he has definitely earned my respect.

I agree with Froch ( since Kessler), and Paulie (since m.cotto).

I think Berto and Ortiz as of recently for me. I didn't dislike Ortiz, just didn't know how I felt about him as a boxer more or less. But now have more respect for both fighters more than ever before.

For me it was Wlad. The guy showed signs of early weaknesses in his fight game. But, he has really turned his career and style around he is n ow knocking on the HW atg top 15 status with his record of dominance and long reign as champ.

Also, for me it was ricky hatton. I used to hate on that guy incessantly for constantly fighting weak opposition and ducking the high end fights. Well, he took the fights towards the end of his career and even though he lost, I now have a lot of respect for him in trying.

Cool. I never really thought much about Berto, but he gained some respect in my eyes last weekend.

I use to hate Lennox Lewis until he went to war with Vitali. Even though i think Vitali won, Lennox earned my respect.

I've always thought Paulie was a very good boxer with great movement. Re-inventing himself at WW has seemed to suit him well for now! I've always loved Froch he's a true sweet scientist! But if there's any such fighter who've stepped up in my book it would have to be Victor Ortiz. Last weekends performance was a good one. And, also Glen Johnson who looks more than just old these days!

I remember rooting against Lennox a lot early in his title run. Now, I look at him as perhaps the most overlooked heavyweight champ of my lifetime.

Paulie, Froch, and Hatton are all true for me as well. Paulie: the guy has superb skills, and winning a world championship without ko power is very impressive, he has to fight a perfect fight. Froch: annoying **** at first, but has the balls in the ring. Hatton: More or less didn't like him because he was a british fighter, with a padded record. But I have come to miss Hatton a lot, he pushed himself and tried to be exciting. Respect him as a man as well, just a common everyday guy.

Paul Williams: I thought he only wants fights because of his freakish size. But no man including bhop has ever put a beat down on winky and williams did it. Also I believe he'll come back stronger after that ko, just seems like that type of fighter but we will see.

Good examples with Froch & Malignaggi.
