    Proud2 to Help ‘Knock-Out’ Cancer

Mitch Winehouse confirmed for exclusive post match performance

    Saturday 22nd October 2011

***WBA & WBC heavyweight world champion
***Tim ‘Terrible’ Witherspoon Vs Jim Hemmings.

Proud2 is excited to announce that it will play host to the ultimate charity brawl this October in aid of Cancer Research UK. Taking place on Saturday 22nd October, former heavyweight world champion Tim ‘Terrible’ Witherspoon, renowned football coach Jim Hemmings, former professional light welterweight Georgie Smith and ex-TV personality Lee MacDonald will all compete to raise money for charity. In addition to this, Mitch Winehouse will make a very special, post match live performance.

On 22nd October superclub Proud2 will trade in its DJs and decks for punch bags and ropes as it welcomes WBA & WBC heavyweight world champion Tim ‘Terrible’ Witherspoon and Jim Hemmings as they battle it out in what is to be an un-missable charity event. Coming in at 5ft 10ins and no previous boxing experience, a very daring Hemmings will take on the mighty 6ft 3in, 250 pound Witherspoon, all in the name of Cancer Research UK.

For this special one-off event Proud2 will be transformed into a momentous boxing arena, complete with ring, ring-card girls and commentator. After the match, the crowd will be in for an extra treat as special guest Mitch Winehouse will perform exclusively at the Proud2 in his first performance since the death of his late daughter Amy Winehouse. Mitch will be performing tracks off his new album, Rush Of Love, that reveals the roots of his own musical DNA, which became a key influence in his daughter’s musical inspiration. Mitch is a huge supporter of the event and will be donating his fee to the Amy Winehouse Foundation. Proud2 is truly honoured to host Mitch’s performance and support two amazing causes. Tickets for the event are priced at £20 with all all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK. Anyone that isn’t able to make the boxing but would like to see Mitch perform will be able to enjoy free entry from 11pm onwards once the boxing has finished.

Having coached for the likes of Premier League team Tottenham Hotspur, Jim Hemmings is the visionary behind the event following a series of family tragedies surrounding cancer in the recent past:

“The reason I am very keen to have this event for Cancer Research UK is because cancer has affected my life four times. Even as a novice fighter I am putting everything I have into giving people a great show and raising as much money as we can for a fantastic cause!” – Jim Hemmings

In addition to the above, also set to appear at the event on the undercard in a 4-round match is former professional Light Welterweight Georgie Smith against Lee MacDonald, best known as Zammo from Grange Hill. With all of this on the bill, it is sure to be a truly amazing night.

Good to see Mitch still milking his daughters death, "new album".....lol. If only he was this active with her when she was alive.

Anyway good luck with the event, it's for good cause.
