    Charles Liston - Anthony Tubbs

12 rounds. Queensbury Rules. Prime for Prime.

I pick Tubbs by UD. Too quick, slick and talented for the old plodder. When Tubbs wasn't on drugs you really needed power + SPEED to catch him. A great, wasted talent.

    React.

Tubbs was very good quite electifying handspeed in his prime, but we all saw what tyson did to him. When Liston hits him with that left hook like tyson did, Tubbs legs will jiggle all the way down to his toes and that will be it for tubbs.

Liston may not have had the speed tyson has, but he has the much longer reach and liston caught quite a few fellows with left hooks in long range leaning back with his very long arms.

bull****, Tubbs was smoking a couple 8-balls a day before that Tyson fight.

Liston was WAY TOO SLOW to catch Tubbs in his prime. i can even see a ko by sonny boy quitting due to the fact he would be getting so entirely schooled by much more scientific, more talented Tubbs.

    Put the mortgage on it.

Tony Tubbs had the boxing ability to trouble Liston for a few rounds, but Liston's reach, Power, Jab and persistance would lead him to a KO victory. I don't see it happening in two rounds persay, but I don't see it going the distance either. Tubbs best moment was a close decision over a slipping Page. A rather portly Tim Witherspoon managed to defeat Tubbs, and in 1987, a journeyman named Mike Jameson floored him. Tony didn't have the boxing ability that Ali had nor the chin to take Liston's punch.

If lil' Marty Marshall dents Liston's mandible, then 230 lb. Tubbs cracks his skull.

I just see Liston befuddled by handspeed and defensive wizardry in this bout becoming frustrated and perhaps even quitting. If there was one word not to describe Liston, it was "imaginative". A whitewash the whole way.

If you had an eye for styles in the sport of boxing you would realize this would be a very, very bad match for Liston.

    If...

Tubbs could pose a few puzzles to Liston as long as it lasts.
But how long would it last ?

I suspect Liston would land something big, maybe very early on, and knock Tubbs out cold - or something similar.
