Let's face it, the only legit heavyweight champion right now is Tyson Fury. Wilder and Martin are nothing but American paper champions. But its good for the sport in the US, since they'll be talking that "boxing is back" and all the hype that goes along with it. Then once they get knocked out again, boxing will have "died" again.
He will be relieved of that belt in his very next fight, just pretend this bit of Boxings time line isnt happening.
Did I say that's what I expect him to do? No he got lucky and now he's supposed to be a "world champion". My issue is with the IBF for allowing this to happen, having someone like Charles Martin as a belt holder makes a mockery of the heavyweight division & makes people question the value of having a belt when clearly you don't even need to be a top 20 fighter to get your hands on a belt these days.
Blame Fury for not paying the sanctioning fees and dropping the belt. The U.S. has two HW world champs, SOWWEY!
I don't have to repeat myself. The world recognizes Martin and Wilder as paper champions. the Americans can celebrate it, and hype it as "boxing is back". Like there wasn't heavyweight boxers filling out 50,000 arenas in Europe. But what is good, is that Americans will start taking interest again, hype it all up and we will watch the hype machine fall apart again. :hi:
Meanwhile you jerk off to someone who's fought 3 voluntaries, ducking HIS mandatory.....Wilder should have been stripped long ago, while Fury hadn't even had time to mount his belt on the wall before the IBF yanked it away.
I'm not a hater, I'm just saying it the way it is. I'll give credit where credit is due. Come the end of the year there won't be any American heavyweight paper champions, I am pretty convinced about that. However, if there is, that means I assume that they will have faught somebody worthy enough and we can call them a "real champion". I'm gonna revive this thread and we'll see. :rasta Until then Tyson fury is THE legit heavyweight champion, no one else. Because he simply BEAT the legit champion of the past 12 years. I'm sick of all these alphabet belts.
"I'm just saying it the way it is", So in that case just say "And New IBF Heavyweight Champion Charles Martin!! it's pretty easy once you get the hang of it!!!!!!!!!!
Seems like a nice guy I'll root for him but he did not impress. Shows what good management can do for guys like him and Wilder because there are far better guys in the division without the paper belts.
