I can't wait to see the Wilder fanboys do even more mental gymnastic if Martin wins. Obviously King Kong will be shot by then he never fought anyone else other than Jennings anyway. Talk about paper thin resumes all round...

Martin did well against Washington, on quite a big stage.

He should be respected, for sure. The Ortiz fight is almost 50-50 for me, maybe Ortiz the slight favourite. I'd like to see Martin fight Hunter, if he can't get the Ruiz fight.

Martin sucks, I can only imagine people predicting he wins just have never seen him fight.

Nothing untrue in saying Martin is unspectacular.

But Ortiz was always massively overhyped for what he'd actually achieved... And at his age, the potential for him to be finished is certainly there.

I could turn what you said on its head and say that those who aren't giving Martin a chance are still buying into Ortiz fabricated reputation and ignoring his age.

This one really could go either way.

Luis Ortiz is just a bridge too far.

He's old and not all that yes but he's been old for a while and it hasn't looked like he's declined much since his Wilder bouts. He looked far more technical than Martin against Flores before Flores quit.

Maybe Martin can actually pull it off but i don't see it. Martin claims he plans to put the pressure on Ortiz, and if he does he will get countered into oblivion. I see Ortiz stopping him by the 5th if not much earlier.

    Martin just sucks

Is Martin something special? No, he isn't. But he's tall, big and can punch a bit. Ortiz is way more technical and better everywhere but does that win him a fight at nearly 43 years of age? Probably not. If he can still take a few decent punches from a 6'5'' tall and 255 pound heavy HW...YEAH, he SHOULD win either by stoppage at some point or by a wide decision. But who knows how good his punch resistance is at this point? We saw him for like 25 seconds in a fight against a guy who didn't want to be there (Flores). You can't take anything away from the Flores fight lmfao. Martin looked pretty solid against Kownacki and Washington. He dominated the second half against Kownacki and dominated from start to finish against Washington. Both Kownacki and Washington are subpar HWs but for sure better than guys like Flores, Kauffman or Cojanu. People claiming Martin has no chance are insane.

It's crazy to believe that Martin has to be a great boxer to beat Ortiz. As i said i'm a huge Ortiz sucker and i had many many discussions in here where i defended my ol' Cuban boy against haters. I wached every fight since 2011 or so. And i can just say he looked old in his last few fights, even against Wilder where he was winning. Hammer was really landing consistently and Hammer usually is a guy who is throwing a few overhands per round and thats it but Hammer arguably made a few rounds pretty close. Ortiz also hasn't the greatest output so if Martin can hang on with his jab and doesn't overextend with an aggressive approach he could probably make it even close from the distance. I think the majority is really off on this one. I hope Ortiz wins and i hope it'll be spectacular as i wish him all the best and another big payday but my Ortiz senses are predicting him getting violently ko'd soon and i don't think it'll be some world class HW doing the job tbh. And Martin could be the guy who is doing that...he has all the tools. Nevertheless Ortiz is one class above everywhere so if he can take a few good left hands from Martin he should be fine. Martin isn't throwing a lot of left hands.

Negron would have at least come to fight. Hammer is a spoiler who going off his last effort against H. Fury has no business fighting Ring rated contenders. He is there for the paycheck.

Showbizz is a good shout for this one :clap2: I like BoxingWave too

Yeah i feel Sanchez wont look good here. I want him to fight a Takam, a Washington, or a Martin next before really stepping up against the top guys

There a lot of Martins in the HW division. Wilder can't fight them all.

He came damn close, and in reality the fight still makes sense.

A PBC guy, nice looking record, a former AJ opponent, theoretically the southpaw thing sets him up well for right hands.

It's not much of an upset considering Ortiz's age. Calm down.
