Charles Or Jeffries??

Jeffries at HW. P4P it's Charles. I don't think either are very close.

 

Charles for P4P, HW and H2H.

 

Jeffries dominated an era. Charles split his series with Walcott and picked up other losses, as well as losing to Marciano. So if you're going to claim he's greater it'd have to be based on fighting in a stronger era, but his era at HW was pretty weak and depleted.

I give charles the edge in H2H matchup, skills , and quality of opposition.
Gotta give Jeffries the edge in Legend of His Time status,

 

Yeah, this right here. Jeffries was considered unbeatable and the best ever at the time of his reign. Charles wasn't ever considered an ATG at HW...unless someone corrects me here.

 

Hard to say I wasnt around back then but the history books writing about them in completely different fashions.

actually I WAS around when Charles was champ! Not Jeffries, I'm not THAT old.

 

Jeffries dominated a definable era, and Charles doesn't really have a short term dominance card to paly, so I would have to give it to Jeffries.

 

I think your rating of them is very reasonable. I myself am not certain who should rank higher at heavyweight but p4p Charles is in a whole different universe above Jeffries

Yep....Gillette Friday Night fights...on my father's knee. I'm talking Charles, not Jeffries. Only Mcvey is that old.
