I’ve never seen a Charles Shufford fight before (plan on watching one this weekend) but I have heard mixed things about him. Was he any good? Did he overachieve or underachieve in his career with his skill set? How does a prime Charles Shufford do in today’s heavyweight division?
He beat Brewster, but Brewster claimed to have been injured. He was basically a guy with sparring partner mentality outside of that. And he had a role in the Ali movie.
The only fight I can remember watching was his loss to Wladimir Klitschko, very one sided ko loss for Shufford. I think his claim to fame is he played George Foreman in the Ali movie starring Will Smith. They made Shufford gain about 30 pounds because they wanted him to look a lot bigger than Will Smith. In reality Foreman was only 4 pounds heavier than Ali when they fought. I never cared for the movie. Will Smith did a good job but the overall movie was lousy. The best Ali film imo is The Greatest (1977), it has a great film score as well as being an accurate movie.
