Charles vs. Holman II

you can see that charles in this holman fight as such oustanding technical skills and ring intelligence, its just his reflexes and speed and even stamina are so shot so he he can only fight in very small spurts and has to rely on more inside fighting than hes used too.

 

The thing is though as you get older you maybe able to bounce around and work at a frantic pace as you once could for a full fight for a few rounds, its once you get into the later rounds your legs feel like your treading in cement and your hands feel like your carrying a big weight in either hand

 

Charles did manage to win a split decision over Paul Andrews right after this fight although Andrews wasn't highly rated at the time. This was pretty much his last good win, Holman on the other hand went onto score wins over Oakland Billy Smith and Bob Satterfield in his next two fights.

Good effort considering how little he had left at that point of his career.

 

According to the Boxing Register: Charley Norkus, John Holman, and Paul Andrews were all rated in the top 10 by Ring Magazine when Ezz recorded victories over them in 1955.

 

I think Andrews may have been rated as a light heavyweight. The Ring Magazine had him in the top 3 during 1954 but he fell off after losses to Maxim, Johnson, Charles and Satterfield.
