Too bad Charles' worshipers cannot see Charles' light-heavyweight fights vs Bivins and Marshall where he was dropped multiple times.

You mean because he seems invincible to some? Perhaps. But both of the guys who dropped Charles were world class talents, great fighters.

Burley was a WW who beat a lot of MW's and a few LHW's (as well as a couple of heavies), not a MW.

Jones would be exposed, Charles so much better, Charles would land those shots that would break Jones Defensive sheild....Charles KO 9

This is how I see it. I like Charles here. Jones would probably be up on points before the knockout. While Jones is faster and might hit a little harder, he is not that much faster or more powerful.

I think the match comes down to toughness, and the willingness to mix it. These are two crucial parts of Roy Jones game that are lacking that Charles had in the spades.

Charles proved himself against better fighters than Jones, and he did it time and time again.

Charles would win this one by KO or points.

Charles would have trouble with Jones' speed for sure. But i think he'd prevail and win 2 out of 3. The problem is that Jones is not a tenth as tested at LHW as he Charles is. Charles is 3-0 against Archie Moore.

Jones Jr. title reign was a bit poor as a LHW, I have to pick the proven world class fighter Charles, who beat so many great fighters at this weight class. Head-to-head, I see him having more power than Jones Jr, a better chin, better boxing skills, I give Roy advantages in speed, and reflexes, IMO it´s an even fight until the later rounds where Jones Jr. gets KO´d...

    Charles KO 11 Jones Jr.

senya..indeed i am aware of charles getting knocked down so many times in his fights with marshal and bivins. i am also aware of how many times he kept getting up....lasted the disatance with bivins. ref stopped it against marshall.
(charles told me he felt like a yo yo in both..up and down...up and down)..somehow i've forgotten how many times jones got up against tarver and johnson. perhaps you recall and can fill me in.

in the rematches charles got off the floor to kayo marshall...one punch...have seen the film...and kayo bivins...one punch kayo. again, i must have missed jones' rematch triumphs against tarver and jones. how did they come out?

jones' chin not as good as he aged. fair enough. marshall and bivins were the only fights charles had that year and he was not properly trained because he was going into the army. no excuse needed though...losing to those two all time greats. hey, if you did see those two fights, or films of them, how were they? I've only seen home camera clips.

of course, there are some who also consider tarver (who distinguished himself so elegantly against that youngster hopkins) and johnson as all-time greats as well, so i guess they balance out.

So beating tarver, hill, woods, griffin, mccallum, harding, gonzalez and reggie johnson at light heavyweight is a poor title run? Please name as many LHW that you can that had a better title run, this is ridiculous.

Marshall and Bivins were both better fighters than anyone Jones ever faced.

Charles Had Trouble with trickyness, speed with power. Thats how a fighter he already beat twice came back to do the same, Jersey Joe Walcott. In his prime he lost to good counterpunchers like Bivins and LLoyd Marshall who ko'd him. In all he was kayoed only 7 times in 25 losses so his chin was solid not great. Jones chin was about the same he was stopped twice by ko and 4 losses over 50 + fights. Jones had an unorthodox style and counterpunching ability that would give Charles fits. The only time Charles had trouble was when some one matched his boxing skills and counterpunched well. Jones had speed no one in that era had ever seen and he'd have to take time to adjust. He will pressure Jones and try to time him but will be a half step behind. Also Jones could punch well even at 175. He wouldnt go for the kayo but I see it going his way 7-5,8-4, 7-6 where Jones lands more punches and his handspeed and unorthodox moves and defense win the day.
