Ok, I'm surprised that you see it as the closest thing to a mis-match you can get when world class opponents meet.atsch
I'm surprised you're surprised given that you've expressed identical emotions over two very different scenarios.
I'm capable of monitoring two widely differing scenarios simultaneously yet coming up with an identical answer for both of them . Its a very rare gift that no Celt could aspire to possess. So don't be surprised that you don't have it, be surprised that you have been fortunate enough to encounter someone who surprisingly enough is in possession of said gift.
Georgie Abrams got a draw against Burley and lost a close(ish) decision against Cerdan. So if we are to use him as a barometer it is self-evident that they were of similar quality and a fight between them would not be a 'mismatch'.
Burley clearly has the better resume, as he fought Holman Williams 7 times! going 3-3-1 . He lost to Jimmy Bivins, split with Fritzie Zivic in 2 fights , lost to Ezzard Charles twice and to Lloyd Marshall and he did get a win over Archie Moore. Cerdan has a win over Holman Williams and Tony Zale. I think this is a close fight, I believe Cerdan would have won a rematch with Lamotta so I think he'd be a handful for any middleweight. In a 15 round fight I might bet on Cerdan but not confidently and not with large sums of cash.
